Elbow feeling - demoing PST GT & APD GT -

Hi All,

I am currently demoing both the Pure Storm GT with 6 g of lead in throat and the APD GT (I am previously a Pure Drive user - gen 3 pre-cortex for past 7 years - new PD GT was too stiff for me), and one of them is giving me a feeling in my elbow once I am finised, but because I interchange them every other set, I am not sure which one is doing it.

My guess is the APD GT, but then again I am not used to flexy frames like the PST GT..........

Any thoughts? - apart from demo seperately on different days, which I will try.

Thanks

Hi Rich,

I'm glad that you demo them before buying. When me and my buddy demoed something last year from TW, we had the same issue. All of the rackets that we got were strung with less expensive strings and with high tension. Although we did not like any of the rackets that we demoed but my buddy decided to get the K Factor Six-One Tour 90 based on the reviews on TW and he's been happy ever since with a different type of string and lower tension on it.

I know, i feel like I am going demo crazy - I want to stick with the babolat range (have tried/demoed many others any way), but because my main weapon is my 1st serve, in order to stick with guys much better than me, I seem to have to compromise my game playing with the PST GT (it does not serve the bullets like my Ol Pure Drive does), and as much as I wanted to make the PD GT work, the stiffness feeling got to me after several months.

So I stuck right now between making the APD GT work (although same RA it feels not as stiff to me as the PD GT), and leading up the PST GT to add more MPH's on my serve.

I also have wondered if the PDR GT plays as stiff as the PD GT (perhaps the added weight counters the stiffness feeling)?

Try the Pure Storm Tour LTD GT. I just got a couple after getting some elbow pain with my AeroPro Drive Cortex and played for 2 hours this morning with Bab revenge in mains and addiction in the crosses and I have no pain at all in my elbow. It may be a good stick to look at.

Good Luck.

richsox,

Having hit with the APD recently and belatedly, here's a few thoughts based on my experiences and on highly informed advice that was told to me...

Not sure if you haven't tried it already, but if you haven't, definitely customize in or around butt cap and/or experiment with grip combinations.... to my mind, its that hollow, crappy handle that is largely to blame as it offers so little resistance to vibrations etc.

Furthermore, I'd consider leading up in the hoop area too, but keeping the overall balance relatively head-light, not the kind of polarized, Nadal-like mega-mounts @ 12 and far lesser amounts in the butt, that seems so popular among APD/C/GT wielders.

The kind of thing I mean is 4g @ 10 and 2 and 8g around butt. Bab syntec grip with overgrip too.

If you want to take it very cautiously, half the amounts, ie put 2g @ 10 and 12 and 4g at butt.

Okay, you don't get that insane topspin but imo the frame plays easily if conventionally enough and your wrist/elbow doesn't feel like it has been seriously assaulted!

BTW, a good synth like Maxim Touch might also be a consideration.

BTW2, I'd definitely recommend checking out Nadal's actual frame, the original, black cosmetics APD without Cortex - stiffness RA 67...

Hope that's of help to you.

ATB,

R.
