Elbow Ligament Tear and PRP Success

Has anyone had any success with PRP injection for a possible ligament tear of the elbow? I saw my surgeon yesterday regarding a full tear of my lateral collateral ligament and small tear of my extensor tendon. I thought he would have recommend surgery for the ligament tear but he was very non chalant about the tear and suggested it might be something I have to live with. He said I could always try PRP to help speed the healing. I am getting a second opinion from another surgeon after showing him my MRI but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this for ligament and tendon injuries.

This all started as a issue with golfer's elbow in both arms. TIA

Comparative medical study: PRP vs surgery on tennis elbow

Seems to be equally effective

I saw my doc today and he doesn't feel that the ligament tear is something that would warrant surgery. However he did comment that a PRP injection could help with the small extensor tear that I have and some swelling I have on the medial side.

Can any forum member who has had a PRP injection comment on the success/failure they had and did the outcome justify the out of pocket expense???

Was in the hospital today with my elbow investigation. Saw a professor no less, specialist in knees and shoulders. I asked about PRP injections and he told me he was performing such therapies 10 years ago. He said PRP works really well. However, in this backwater country (Sweden), the insurance companies won't pay for PRP. So, they had to switch to other methods.

So, now I have scheduled deep acupuncture, which works almost the same as PRP. It stimulates natural healing and regeneration by drawing blood to trigger reactions occurring in wound healing. This means they poke holes in the bone and tissues with the acupuncture needles. A couple of sessions are needed with a week or so in between. Temporarily painful yes, but so is PRP according to the professor.

Yeah they won't pay for them here either. I was told the cost would be $800.00 per injection. I meet with another elbow doc after the holidays. If given the option I am probably going to give PRP a try. I have been battling this for 3 months and it's getting old :(

I have missed 3 months of play because of an golf elbow injury. Nothing could fix it but a PRP injection did it. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the input. That's encourgaging. I have been dealing with this for over 3 months now and NO TENNIS. Sounds like PRP might bring me some hope.
