Of course they are genuinely happy in the first picture: what else could they be when they get a six figure paycheck and while doing essentially no work? The picture on the right tells me that these guys will do the work and do their best to make the company profitable.

Musk's behaviour is consistent with a man who wants to sell off Twitter within the year. The interesting question is who will buy it in a fire sale? My money is on Murdoch.

He fired even more slackers. He asked the managers of the marketing & sales and the partnership division to agree to fire more employees. Both refused and now both fired. How entitled are those people who think they can defy the boss without consequence?

The boss has just flown into corporate HQ and has not got the slightest knowledge of who is needed at the company.

Musk paid far more than what he should have (not such a great businessman) and needs to slash and burn before he sells on the company.

He owes the banks thirty billion, so when he can find someone willing to pay that price for a company that is now more profitable simply through sackings he will sell.

Well, since Musk took over they have experienced all time highs in twitter user growth. I doubt he will sell for less than he bought it for.
He did the smart thing and told the slackers that if they weren't ready to work hard they should quit. So those people are responsible for losing their jobs, not the company. Firing employees that defy the owner of the company is something that is necessary and should be done more often to millennials so that the steel toed boot of reality kicks their safe space needing rear ends until they stop needing safe spaces. It should be done to employees who think their job is to get a paycheck for social activism.

He's been there a few weeks? He could completely tank the company, or actually do something good with it. But so far his public statements aren't encouraging and the advertisers fleeing shows that

I actually didn’t mind Elon Musk in the earlier years. A little bit eccentric, driven and interesting. But I think he has started to believe his own hype. Just too much now.

Twitter soon to provide general amnesty to all accounts that have been suspended as long as they haven't broken the law or engaged in egregious spam. The poll is up on twitter. Great way to increase follower but we'll see.

His Dad owned a diamond mine, among other things

Musk's track record was great (PayPal + Tesla), now starting to peter out, and he has totally lied about his academic credentials

He's great at marketing himself and at positioning companies for gov't investment, but taking over an existing company is a lot different than what he's done before and he's in way over his head.

Not being brainwashed by the communists that occupy academic centers now probably was key in his success.
No one cares about his academic credentials.
I think his chances are better than 50% at making twitter profitable. Looks like he's getting rid of a lot of dead weight. Even if it isn't profitable ever, he's done a great service to free speech in the US. Esp. if evidence can be obtained that the US Government told a private companies to ban certain posts or opinions. That's a big no-no constitutionally in this country and if our justice system wasn't so corrupted, people in government agencies would be going to jail for that.

I'm sure the nightly swim he takes in his pool filled with $100 bills eases some of the pain of not having whatever degree he said he had. It is one of the great ironies that all these people who thought they were saving the planet by buying Teslas helped him finance the purchase of twitter and end their power to censor ideas that triggered their tiny little minds.
Much easier to dismiss ideas by calling people who post "fanboys" He's earned the right to be heard by what he's done, not because of whatever degree he lied about(I have no idea what degree either). Never confuse intelligence with education, even people with doctorate degrees can be idiots.

Well to be honest I have to say that Im not sure what to think about Elon Musk. There is a lot more to play out in the world in the next 8 years and one should be entitled to change their mind as things unfold and become better understood.
There will be many political forces that he will have to face and I wish him well.
He is very much involved in a variety of technological endeavours and as to what it may bring to America and the wider world community, we will have to see.
