#Embarrasing: Stop Making #Stans2015FO All About #Novak

There appears to be a disproportionate amount of attention focused on #Novak, his reaction at the trophy presentation, why he lost, Novak, Novak, Novak. Yet, it was #StanislasWawrinka who Is the #2015FO Champion.

It's time to give #Stan the respect he deserves as the #2105US Champion

Since januari TTW has been hijacked by obsessed Djokovic fans. I applaud this attempt to bring some variety to the forum.

Stan is a beast! Amazing shots, power, and a real big match player. Deserved winner.

Novak is the unrivaled #1 and plays the greatest tennis the world has seen.

Deal with it.

Stan is the rightful champion of RG.

Deal with that as well.

AngieB, it's also time for a lot of younger people to learn the meaning of these phrases:

"Don't count your chickens before they are hatched."

"Pride goes before a fall."

"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

This whole business of over-hyping based on past performance has been going on for for a very long time. It's nothing new.

When players succeed in breaking history it is only obvious looking back with the ability of 20-20 hindsight.

Uh no. Djokovic is "the emperor's new clothes" and will collapse down the rankings any moment.

BUT: for me it is fair to say that Novak really didn't choke. He had a chance to break again in the 4th set, Novak up 0/40 on Stan's serve. At the moment Stan played some of the most amazing tennis I've ever seen. He went into god-mode.

Stan played some of the most amazing tennis today that I've seen in years. So full credit to Stan for his magnificent play today!

#MrGARYDUANE,

Didn't you feel a sense of nostalgia watching #Stanislas' offensively crush #Norvak? Aside from #Roger former self, it has been years since we've offensive tennis take center stage.

#MensTennis, for better or worse, has evolved into #defensive, pushing robots waiting for their opponents to make errors in order to win matches. It's created (5) hours marathon matches at the grand slam events and in my opinion, a bit of lethargy among fans. For decades, tennis players played offensively to win matches. #NovakChokovic is the first generational champion to make tennis a defensive juggernaut.

My hope is that players use #Stanislas blueprint as best practice in defeating todays #defensive robots and return tennis to the way it was designed to play: Play to win, not wait for the other person to lose. #Tissues4Issues

If she is not who she says she is, then this person puts an incredible amount of thought and detail into this persona and never breaks character. I'm inclined to #believe in the #grannyilluminati :)

Unlike the dreadful Mother Marjorie who was so obviously a man trying to channel his version of Sarah Palin. No creativity.
I don't understand what the big deal is with the #kids. They can't seem to appreciate a #seniors perspective. I've seen and played more tennis then 95% of the participants in this forum and have a different perspective than the average recreational player.

Every so often, there is a player that comes along and reminds us of how tennis was meant to be played. #Stanislas win reminds me a lot of when #PeteS won the #USOpen1990. These players played to win, not sit back and wait for their opponents to beat themselves. My hope is that #Stanislas offensive performance will be used as a best practice blueprint for other players to defeat the defensive pushers in the top ten of men's tennis.

As a fan, it's time for #MensTennis to move past #TheBigFour. It's time for change.
but not until #Rafael wins two more #FO's

I'm a senior too. I'll be 67 in a few months.

For the record I enjoyed debating with AngieB. I did not always agree with her. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes a lot. But I liked getting her perspective on the old players, and also her view of younger players based on her experience.

I personally hope her ban is temporary. I will miss her.

Think of some of her unique things:

"God willing and the creek don't rise." I loved seeing that.

But also here "majoring and minors and minoring in majors".

We saw other people actually quote that.

It was nice to get her views on tennis at the beginning of the open era and before that time. I can tell you from personal experience that those of us who have never played with a wooden racket with gut (or nylon for those who could not afford gut) don't fully understand what has changed. You can read about it, watch the old players, but you have to experience the limitation of what people used to play with to understand how good they were.

I think the world has a very low tolerance for people who are unique.

It was long overdue. For all reasons known...

I didn't see anything Angie did to get banned to be honest. Everything she does is in humor, (even though they're her real feelings) unlike lots of known trolls here that will never get a hammer no matter how vile they seem to be.

Her getting banned is shocking

She has her point of view and it should be respected

As I have said before, she reminded a lot of us of Clarky21 and we all agreed that Clarky21 was sometimes funny with her names (Noel and so fort), AngieB just pushed all the wrong buttons, I guess...

Angie, you seem to be devoting a disproportionate amount of your attention to slapping pound signs willy-nilly throughout your posts. This is an adult tennis discussion board, not a teenage social media site - it would be nice if you did not confuse the two.

EDIT: Never mind - I see that dear Angie is no longer able to contribute her little symbol-spewed posts to this site.

I'll always remember where I was when I got the news. I hope she returns. I was to judge the bakeoff between her and Mr. Lob. If he lost, he was to wear Helen Willis Moody's panties.

Once, I agreed with her and was rewarded with a pic of Thelma and Louise's clutched hands as they drive into infinity. Whatever is happening, I know she is driving her pink Cadillac on the Major highway...no brown Pinto for her. #halleluyer #freegranny

I've had a quick check of AngieBs poast over the last few days and I saw nothing untoward.

Could it have been a technical breach ?

Over moderation can ruin a forum.

You guys know well you can start your own forum where anything goes.

It's been done many times. If you start a new Forum people WILL migrate particularly if things are more loosely moderated....

Does not mean the end of this forum just means there are other better/worse avenues of expression re-tennis.

Also I bet you guys are hilarious on other topics too !

If he keeps winning one slam per year until a dominant young player comes along, he will be viewed as a transitional champion.

He will have at least 8 slams to his name, I don't think that is transitional. Maybe he is not outright dominant, but I consider hewitt the ideal transitional example, with 2 slams.

I have a hard time seeing how people are surprised OP's banned. It was an act and it became an infinite loop at that, which derailed many a topic. Besides, to my knowledge, she's been banned at least twice already.

Having won slams since 2008 and not showing any sign of stopping yet, I have to say that is quite a drawn out transition then ;-)

Exactly, you can't be a transitional champion with that many weeks at number 1 and YE#1, not to mention the titles. She called Lendl a transitional champion as well, and I'd say she's wrong there too.

Exactly. She had very strong opinions. A lot of people here do. And to me it does not seem to be any different

if you do this: #emphasis

or this: emphasis

or this: emphasis

or this: emphasis

or this: emphasis

I usually just do THIS because I'm a very faster typist and I can hold down the shift key with my left 5th finger while typing.

So I know a lot of AngieB's opinions. She was totally for the ITF, for pioneering women. She hated defensive tennis, for the most part, but was a huge supporter of Nadal.

And she could give as good as she got, a spunky lady.

I don't understand the need for an ignore list. If I don't like what people say, I just skip over their posts.
