And this, given serious competition of 'Players' and 'Wimbledon', is the WORST - shame on you Woody Allen:

Maybe, but there's intense competition in that department.

^^ actor and former tennis pro Vince Van Patten could play Borg with a little makeup to take 25 years off, would certainly be convincing as a tennis player.

You know he's dead, right?

I can't imagine spending the time/money to watch it. Frankly, the more recent notion that Riggs intentionally lost is pretty compelling to me.

I hope they go that angle. Much evidence points to a fixed outcome.

I agree on the first,Strangers On A Train is fantastic but disagree on the 2nd,I liked Match Point,moreso than crap like 'Wimbledon' anyway...

Wimbledon is what it is, trite. But it's not Woody Allen. Match Point was woefully miscast and wooden. The story is implausible - which would be fine if not for the terrible acting by the leads.
I guess I just expected so much more.
Much more.

Is the movie supposed to include all these other tennis players? From a tennis fan's perspective, it's a bit underwhelming to have Bobby Riggs as a main character and all these other tennis greats as secondary characters (or even extras).

There are no tennis players cast in this movie. Just posters babbling. I've posted all the actual casting news. Professional athletes are horrible actors and the pedigree of the cast and crew of this film seems somewhat high, so I'm guessing they wouldn't want dilute their product in other to cater to the handful of tennis nerds who care about seeing actual pros on screen.

I didn't mean actual pros. I meant a movie with actors playing famous players from the past. The Riggs/BJK match wouldn't be my first choice if I were to make a film about tennis. That was my point.

They should make a Borg/McEnroe film like they did with the Lauda/Hunt film.

Serena Williams will be shocked and saddened to read this.

I'm surprised that posters are surprised that this movie is being made. It fits perfectly with the Hollywood Liberal playbook. White male gets his comeuppance.

On a related note, it's sad that the Astrodome has fallen into such disrepair.

^ha, good call! But I think shia is more of a wish by producers than any official news. Doubt he would do it(this is a pretty obscure prod company making it) I assumed skarsgard is meant to play lennert Bergellin?

Indeed, and from what I read, Shia LeBeouf is a bit cranky these days on the jobs he does.

I would guess that too. Skarsgard would be ideal for Bergellin.
