It is official.

We had a fun ride whoever you backed. But the wheels fell off before the grand finale. Sure, Rafa and Djoker might win more slams and there will be a declared winner.

But the golden era is over.

Fed is done.

Rafa on his last legs.

Djoker? I don't even know.

This whole ordeal has changed opinions on all sides for many fans. It will also taint any future slam wins. We are losing fans because of this and people are less likely to become new fans of the game.

It was wild, exotic, bloody, and golden... But it is over.

Golden Age is long gone. Used to be tennis had variety, tactics, strategies, and , remember vaugely, something called a volley (and the forecourt skills).
With tech, it is the age of two athletes standing on opposing baselines and screaming (not just figuratively)at each other.

2020 and 2021 were anything but golden.

It's kind of been dead-ish since 2016 IMO, the decline of the big 3/4 was already very evident back then. Had any halfway decent players stepped up in the last 5-6 years, the big three probably wouldn't be around anymore as slam favorites. The "slam race" is only still live because there are no good players. The sad truth is that these facts were easy to ignore between 2017-2019 with all the big 3 resurgence hype, but upon watching back it is quite easily confirmed that there was a very steep dropoff even then and we are now at (or near) the bottom of that.

Djoko ain't done my friend. If he was hungry before, he will be even more hungrier now with this whole situation that has played out. He has essentially been barred from playing a Grand Slam event, against his own will. He will look to prove a point. That's the type of athlete and winner he is.

Djoker? I ruined his career by lying and manipulation

Ahh you admit good boy :)

For me 2002-2015 was the Golden Age. Especially on the ladies side. What a stellar, consistent group of young women. Lindsay and Jennifer were still playing. Venus and Serena. The Belgians. The Russians. The Serbs.

It's been on life support since 2015 but yeah it's done. There's hope for one more Djokodal slam semi/final but they will be 35/36/41 the next time each of the Big 3 plays in a slam.

What point will he prove, that in spite of being stupid enough to get himself kicked out of the '20 USO - a tournament which was otherwise virtually unlosable for him - for hitting a lineswoman in the face, and then failing to ensure he could play a slam he's won nine times by simply getting vaccinated, he will finally win #21 instead of #23?
For the record, Laver was barred from 20+ majors either side of winning his two CYGS and 11 majors; who knows what his total would have been?

The AO is blighted until Tiley can get real guarantees that visas won't be denied by the Federal Government on spurious grounds.

Djokovic is about as popular as Ivan Lendl. So he really isn't part of any golden era. I think there have been compelling eras in tennis where tennis went beyond it's niche. The Bjorn Borg era from 1976-80, the Sampras-Agassi rivalry from 1990-95, the Nadal-Federer rivalry from 2006-2008. These were times when tennis was brought to the world stage.

When 35y olds has to decline in a serious way for 25y olds to win, at least you know something is wrong...

I mean... has anyone ever set a world record in anything at the age of 35?

Who cares..Djokovic I he stays as steely as he has been , he has chance to go 21,22,23,24 maybe even 25. So what if is as popular as Lendl. It is his mental fortitude that may get him those #'s

Cricket can give tennis company. Tendulkar had his career best season in 2009 at the age of 36. Granted, he was at least every bit as brilliant in 1998 at the age of 24 as well. Still...

LMFAO

Wait for Djoker to come and kick everyone from behind .. The tour is just weak . He can afford to play a level or two below and still win Wimbledon
If he isn't vaccinated then he will be kicked wherever he goes.
