Hi all, first poster here!
I have a burning question about tennis pros. I know that someone like Federer makes maybe 4 to 5 times his prize money in endorsements. So, say he wins 5 million in tournaments alone per year, then he'll make like 25 - 30 million dollars in that year from all his endorsements.
My question is how much does a lower ranked pro make in endorsements when compared to his annual prize money. So, say someone like Bjorn Phau ranked around 100 makes 200,000 a year in winnings, how much can he make from his endorsements? Has anyone talked to any pros about this?
Also, any word on how much a top ten doubles player might make in endorsements when compared to his wins?
Thanks in advance,
Dean
Update: the folks over at tennis.com forums tell me that a lower-ranked player can pull in major endorsement bucks, for example Kournikova. This complicates things a bit, but I'd still be interested if anyone knows the average amount for endorsements of lower-ranked (say, 150 to 50 rank) pros.
