Epic comeback, yet heartbreaking loss at the end.

Again, Federer is king.
2008 WIM vs Nadal. Comeback from 0-2 in sets, 2-5 in 4th set tie-break, saving couple mp(one with greatest bh passing shot ever), only to lose 9-7 in 5th. WOW

2014 WIM vs Djokovic
For me, this one is more epic than 2008. From 2-5 to 7-5 and saving mp at 4-5. And than 5th set come, easy smash miss and game over.

2005 WTF vs Nalbandian
From 0-4 to 6-5, 30:0.. Yet, Nalbandian won somehow.

Any other examples?

Karlovic vs Seppi this AO was great one as well.

I really did not remeber the progression of that fifth set between Federer and Nalbandian.
Also to be mentioned, that Federer had won the first two sets of the match in tiebreakers 7-4 and 13-11.
Now, I had forgotten that Nalbalandian partial score from 3rd set onwards was 6-2, 6-1, 4-0 in that match, and Federer put himself two points away of winning it.
Nalbandian finished winning the fifth set in a 7-3 tiebreaker.
What a rollercoaster match. Impressive!

Not really heartbreaking for us since the whole world was rooting for his opponent, but Baghdatis fought back valiantly against Old Man Agassi at the 06 USO before finally succumbing to cramps in the 5th.

Losing a 2R match wasn't the end of the world. But you felt bad that this guy put in all that effort and endured so much pain, but in the end had nothing to show for it.

Lousy that Andy never won Wimbledon. He should have won it in an earlier year.

Just checked the stats of 2010 Wimbly, Roddick went out doing a nice little combo of his own 2009 defeat (getting only broken once, in his last service game of the match) and Federeresque conversion stats (1 out of 8 breakpoints).

Somehow, every non-Federer Wimbledon loss was quite a choke for Roddick (for prime, i.e. 2003-10).
2006 - 1/12 on BPs, lost in 3
2007 - 6-4 6-4 6-7 6-7 6-8, 'nuff said (also was up a break in 3rd or 4th set IIRC?)
2008 - 0% efficiency on BPs: 0/8 converted, 0/2 saved, DR 1.20 yet it's a 4-set loss
2010 - as you said, 1/8 on BPs while not even facing BP until the very end; result: loses 7-9 in the 5th.

In 08 he wasn't at full fitness, 07 was the worst one.

Bad BP performance relative to the rest of the match isn't excused by any physical issues, since those affect performance in general.

Regardless, 07 is obviously the worst since Roddick was 2 sets to 0 up in a Slam QF against the supposedly weaponless choker Gasquet and blew it massively. Maybe the subconscious expectation of another whipping from Federer affected him mentally.
