Please save tennis Jannik. Please. Ignore the fact that Daniil should’ve been disqualified two days ago. Do Justice to the Game.

Let's not get this far please. I am no Medvedev fan and I'm pissed that he wasn't disqualified (while Djokovic was), but he isn't responsible for the umpire's decisions. I am livid at the organization who make the rules... rules are the rules only for certain players apparently. But Medvedev is just 1 example among others (along with Begu, Andreeva, Ostapenko, Bedene, Brooksby,...) As bad as it looked, it was still unintentionnal. He is very lucky nothing happened to him but it doesn't make him the bad guy here. I blame the hypocrisy and the inconsistency of the system, but we shouldn't point fingers at Medvedev in particular.

That being said, I hope Sinner wins this one. I like his game a lot more than Medvedev's too.

They played last year in Vienna and it was very one sided.

It was Medvedev’s fault. Intention goes out the window in a situation like that. Slapping at the ball like that so close to the crowd will never lead to anything good. He should be banned from the game forever in my opinion. A horrible, caustic presence on Tour.

Then again, I felt he should’ve been banned long before this incident.

I'm taking Sinner in 3 here, despite Med's 6-1 HTH advantage. Hopefully, Sinner has turned a corner and will be a massive threat for the biggest titles in 2024.

By the book, he should have been DQd - but I still would have found it a pathetic ruling. Also, in fairness, ATP players are totally not used to having spectators at their same height right behind them. In 90% of cases the backboard is way taller, like 9-12 feet, and that kind of swat isn't hitting anyone if not possibly Medvedev himself (off the ricochet). And when they do indeed have that sort of setup, venues will usually place a transparent net at both short ends, like at last year's Florence ATP which I attended in person. In sum, it was truly a freak occurrence in more ways than one. By the way, I also believe Medvedev is a real piece of garbage deep down inside, but I still find him funny and interesting to watch. Also, this is the best possible final and a true marquee matchup. Personally, I'm not quite as confident as the ever optimistic @dking68 but I sure hope he's right.

I missed this one. When was it? Any vídeo? Thanks

It is a bad matchup for Jannik but he himself rightly pointed out in Beijing that Daniil is making him a better player. Cynical views get lots of likes but this is a factual statement. Sinner had and has to learn how to play against such a deep defensive player which counters his biggest strengths.

Much will depend on the quality of serve.

Medvedev getting this one. Both players looking quite good at the moment. Glad to be up to catch this one. I guess I can thank the pizza for gastro problems waking me up
