ERT-300. How sturdy?

#1
I recently retired my ERT-1000 and have been using the ERT-300 for a couple weeks. It has flown out of my hand a couple times.
The older units like the 1000 had a cable between the probe and the sending unit so if the probe went flying the cable would stop the
fall. So far, the unit is still working but I am wondering how much abuse these things can handle. Anyone have an out and out failure after
dropping one? Anyone with dropsy like me have good news like "it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'"?

sorry don't have any useful data for you but the first time it flew off on me, I've since sit on the carpet when I use it. I've always wondered if the 3 plastic "legs" would survive a drop and if one broke off, would it be another $180?

I'd discourage anyone from testing how much abuse these devices can handle. If you like it, take good care of it. ERT-300's don't appear as readily available as they once were, and it's rare to find them for private sale anywhere online. Gamma took over as the US distributor a while ago, but in talking with them, they had no estimated time of delivery from mfr. TW even dropped them from their stringing tools section. I managed to finally procure one several weeks ago only after the retailer I worked with came across one tucked away (and forgotten about) at his warehouse in Mexico.

Thanks for the heads up! I've had mine for a few years but I couldn't get readings on squash and badminton racquets with it so I kept fixing my ERT-1000. The 1000 could get readings on all racquets. I've been seeing the 300 on sale all over the place for years but just as you've said, I looked today and it's not available anywhere. Wow! Maybe I should attach a wrist strap to it before it sproings to an early death!
