ESPN Already off to a crap start

I'm already paying like $60/month for Youtube TV in order to watch live tennis.
If you just want to watch live tennis you are being ripped off considering its $99 a year for TennisTV (ditto adding WTA TV which no one does), $5 a piece for three events, and $10 for the fourth event to watch the entire ATP schedule. Which would be $125 a year.

Step 1: Don't be poor

Step 2: Pay 5 dollars to watch anything you want for the entire tournament on ESPN+
Yep, $5 to watch whatever you want (not to mention other espn+ content) is a great deal. Never again will I watch a grand slam HOPING for a decent match. You can watch matches after the fact too.

My ppv section has something called "The wimbledon channel". Has Wilander on it now.

I'll watch tsn (canadian espn) over the usa espn. They dont go to the studio as frequently to hear ppl we dont care about talk.

Is ESPN+ a standalone or do I need to sub to ESPN?
I don't know if you need to subscribe to ESPN first. I've had that forever, but I got on the ESPN+ wagon last year. And not even for tennis. I got it for football/soccer. Having it for tennis is just a bonus. And well worth the $5 a month. Because I'm never shelling out for TennisChannel+ (cos they annoy me so much) and I'm never gonna watch tennis on ESPN on my big ol flatscreen cos then I have to sit through endless talking and endless Williams/USA nonsense. So it's ESPN+ and the trusty laptop for me.

Hmmm . . . you have a good point there. And I do miss watching on the big screen . . .

But the advantage of watching on my laptop is that I can close the door to my office when I'm watching tennis, go full-on nerd and 'oooohh' and 'aahhhhh' and squeal to my heart's content (without being watched by the members of my household) and then achieve maximum nerdiness as I clickety clack away on my keys while I post frantically on TTW.

I've never seen a video of myself doing this . . . but I'm sure it's quite a sight to behold. And one that should probably be kept beyond the view of others. :)

Lol that's just wrong bro.

They intentionally show crap so that we have to pay the $5.
They have one and at times two channels covering 32 matches between men and women in one day

It is simply impossible to cover everything even if they wanted to

So these days you have to suck it up and miss out on one cup of Starbucks or 1/5th of the nights bar tab instead

10 years ago you would have not seen anything before the QFs on TV anyways

Anyone wonder why Venus never tried for anything not one step away? Was she fatigued or....

I get that, but it's still dumb to show Williams sisters on the main channel all the time.

It’s only going to get worse because they want people to sign up for their subscription service. Tennis Channwe kept hawking there‘a during RG.

You can also pick up a chromecast, play the espn app from your phone and watch on the big tv.

Yup. And I was scanning thru the footage at warp speed and couldn't get through all the talk/commercials. It musta been an hour straight at one point.

I watch on apple tv app on the big screen, laptop on the go and pc at work.

You used to be able to get the stream directly from Wimbledon for $25 iirc. Even that was worth it (to me).

Ten years ago I still knew all of the free streams. JustinTV would have matches and there was also the legendary atdhe.

ESPN also used to stream all of the courts on ESPN360 back then, and they had coverage for a fair number of 250/500's as well. For me it's a matter of principle, or to quote Seinfield, I'm not paying out of spite.

My iptv works on an apk ap (sheild is a beast) I get espn 2 3 +, tsn, bt, bein, sky and eurosport in 720p. Sometimes its in 60 fps, can see the difference. I get the tennis channel but not tennis channel plus, i put in a request for it.

I have it on my living room tv and tablet, love my portalable hd tv

I overpay though at a dollar a week :) Paid until december, been using since december, will be $80 next time for a year :(

I get it's not cheap, but if you really want full access to tennis matches, get DirecTV. Has all courts and can split screen with 2 or 4. Most have commentary too.

Oh dude

Free streams are where it’s at. I’ve already got a handful of sites that never fail to deliver
I used to have a legit stream, but now it's gone. YTTV is a solid stream in HD. The problems I've had with the free stuff is that it can be crappy quality.

Even then man, $60 a month is wayyy too much to be paying, especially when you’re paying that to a rubbish platform like YouTube

You could definitely save some money :)

Alright, I signed up for ESPN+, not a bad service. I did notice, however, that it doesn't show matches on Centre Court or Court 1...all outside courts are shown. What gives?
