ESPN: Please give Darren Cahill more airtime one way or another

As far as calling matches and commentating, I think Darren Cahill strikes the perfect balance between calling the matches like they are, and being entertaining at the same time. He actually talks about tactics, strategy, and etc. as the match progress. Patrick McEnroe too, but to a lesser extend. This week at Cincinnati with just Darren Cahill and Patrick McEnroe calling the matches, it's like listening to free lessons.

During the Serena Williams/Simona Halep finals, ESPN aired the coaching timeout conversations between Darren Cahill and Simona Halep, and WOW! Dude needs more airtime.

Fire that College Gameday guy while you're at it. Thanks ESPN!

What I liked about Cahill's coaching, was that Halep was actually listening and interested in what Cahill had to say. A lot of players will just sit there like a lump on log, no eye contact, looking bored and uninterested in what their coach is saying. So kudos to Cahill and Halep for a great example of how a coaching session should look.

That, and he's very different from a lot of other coaches, or at least whatever ESPN decided to air. A lot of them kind of just berate the player for not doing this or that.

Darren Cahill on the other hand, reinforces on what Simona Halep is already doing, and encourages to see if she could do a bit more here and there.

That, and Darren Cahill knows tennis and he's a pleasure to listen to.
