No poll?

I've got the green tobasco in 3. Fernando is a good claycourter and Delpo doesn't match up quite as well with Verdasco as he does with Soderling.

Vamos Polito!

Delpo's had a much better 2011 than Nando has, having won 20 matches and a 250 title, versus Nando's 9 and no title so far.

but one of Del's losses was to Nando in the SF at San Jose on HC

Nando will have the advantage on clay, but he's just one of the many that the improved Delpo s/b able to hit through even on the clay ... Delpo in 3 :D

The biggest threat to Delpo is his own inconsistency this year. His first serve has been improving over the course of the year, but it still takes rather large and concerning dips. Sometimes he plays horribly, but the opponent is not capable of capitalizing (Tipsy in delrey, Kohl in IW). But just like against Fish in Miami, if Del Potro plays badly against Verdasco, he will lose.

Tough call. The rain delays helped Del Potro the last 2 matches. Against Soderling he was starting to lose steam and get pushed around in the 2nd set. Then the rain helped him. Had it not been for the rain delay yesterday as well he might have had similar issues last match.

Yet Verdasco is poor in finals and certainly hasn't been playing with confidence this year.

Ill say Verdasco in 3. Unless it gets to a 3rd set tiebreaker, in which case Verdasco in all likelihood would choke.

I think Del Potro will win this in a close match, perhaps a three setter. I'll go with Del Potro in three sets. It's nice to see him back now.

I wouldn't mind Verdasco winning, but the truth is he has NO chance againt Delpo, unless the Argentinian is injured/tired.

Even the current 80% Delpo >>>> Verdasco.

Agreed with this.
Nando in 3.

But great attacking play from him now! 15-40 on Del Potros serve, 2 break points for Dasco!

Who breaks! 1-1!

And now it's 15-40 on Verdascos serve, two break points for Del Potro.

Who breaks... 2-1 to Del Potro, will he hold for a 3-1 lead?

Del is looking so sluggish. Verdasco is slicing him up with his powerful and accurate groundstrokes. The only reason Del Potro is getting these breaks is because Fernando is making errors. Once Verdasco settles down, he will probably take control.

Edit: Good set of first serves to get Delpo to 3-1. :)

The errors keep coming, Del Potro now leads 4-1 with a double break, will serve for a 5-1 lead.

A breadstick in the making?

Looks good on Delpo's part so far, easily holds for the set. Nando hasn't done much with the ball.

Del Potro serves it out with relative ease, and wins the first set 6-2.

A more competitive second set coming up I reckon.

And Cassius that picture almost made me choke on my tea (oh god that sounds so British!)

Delpo's serve and Verdasco's errors have given Delpo the first set. Second set can go either way.

The commentator has just mentioned the rain that seems to be on its way, hopefully it stays light enough to keep playing so Del Potro can close this one out.

hate to even think the word "beatdown"

expected more from dasco

JMDP serving for the championship :)
