Etiquette issue with 10's or 11's with no serve.

Like most players I do play 10's or 11's with no serve to get as much ball striking as possible in a session and still keep it somewhat competible. I do have one issue though. Let's say it's agreed upon to play two balls over the net before the point starts. If I play the second of those starter balls or whatever it's called I usually play it not to hard and down the middle, not at all like a regular shot I would use in match play. Sometimes my opponent especially if that second ball lands a bit short shamelessy attacks it for a winner. To me that's a cheap tactic and myself in the same scenario would play an attacking ball but not go for the winner straight away.

But what if my opponent goes on to attack my second starter ball, should I stop playing a nice shot and hit the second shot to the corner or harder? What is the right thing to do here if there is any?

Hit second ball as a typical defensive DTM - deep and with spin. Don’t give him a feed to attack. Use this opportunity to groove defensive/restore/rally shot, just altered direction compared to typical CC rally ball.
Obviously, the feeding person has advantage to attack on the 3rd ball. Just don’t make it too easy for him.
