Eubanks turns pro

Will be interesting to see how Tech tries to fill Chris' shoes. I heard a rumor a few months ago that one of the top 2018 US guys might start at Tech in Jan if he doesnt go pro, but player is not quite of the level of a JJ Wolf or Blumberg who started college early and made a big impact their freshmen year. There may be a European coming in Jan too. Tech had a full roster for 2017/18 so I think the recruiting was more focused on 2018 than 2017.

Hope Tech finds or develops the guys it needs to be competitive in ACC this upcoming spring. Tech does have a 6'7 junior on the roster who had eligibility issues his 1st year and only played one dual match his 2nd year, and senior who played 7 dual matches his freshmen year but only 1-2 since but played well at the ITA Regional. The ACC is such high level-hard for guys who havent played regularly to compete even at lines 5 and 6.

This will hurt GA Tech a lot, imo. I watched Eubanks play on center court at Cincy this year from a few rows behind the baseline. Solid strokes and he hit a heavy ball, but definitely an incomplete game for the pro level. He wanted to finish points quickly and protect his backhand side, to the point where he was forcing shots he shouldn't have. With that said, he has great athleticism and an awesome serve. I hope he succeeds at the pro level.

Saw this earlier, bummed, he has such little time left in college seems silly to leave at this point. If he were a freshman maybe, but he has done well in the pro tournaments so maybe it just feels right for him. With that said, always glad to see NCAA guys compete beyond college, hope he does great! He has loads of potential

he should have stayed in school and tried to win the NCAA singles title so that he can get a wildcard into US open and launch his career with positive note. as it is right now, he is coming out too soon.

He got a wildcard into the US Open this year without winning the NCAA title. He's climbed some 300 spots (635 to 316) in the rankings since the beginning of the Summer. If anything, his timing is perfect to take advantage of the upward momentum he's got.

yea but there is this prestige and fear that it brings by winning the NCAA title. Bradley Klahn won the NCAA title and he is respected on the tour for that...

I have little doubt that all the talk in the locker room at the highest level of the tour is about how impressive an ncaa title was. Eubanks may indeed struggle with credibility issues.Yet again feddy passes on words of wisdom

Dr. Feddie's track record is so stellar. Too bad so many here don't know what we're talking about or his history. It truly is classic.

He can be an elite doubles player. Best serve among doubles specialists and good reach and hands at net. Plus he can hide his backhand. He can definitely do as well as Hughes Herbert in doubles and singles.

Totally agree.

I am still reaping the benefits of representating my school in 7th grade in the Mathcounts competition and then winning 1st place -- constantly fending off swooning women and job offers, PLUS, I think I get one free game per tennis match I play due to Mathcounts intimidation.

When I first got selected/invited by my school, at first I wasn't sure if I should join for fear of being bullied for being a nerd, but I am sure glad I did.

Eubanks into the Los Angeles ITF final. Not even a challenger but still not bad for somebody who was never a NCAA champion.

Serve isn't dominant enough. He holds just 78% so far. He might be a good dubs specialist though.

I saw him at USC Sunday. I think the kid has huge upside. In a era when the new prime is late 20s, early 30s, he will be alright. Just need a little more weight.
