Eugenie Bouchard is extremely overrated.

We should let this thread die peacefully.

The OP had already admitted to being wrong just a month and a half after starting this thread.

I am apologizing about Eugenie Bouchard, earlier in the summer I criticized Bouchard but since I watched her match against Angelique Kerber at the US OPEN I can see this girl has a lot of talent. Now, Bouchard has elevated herself into the WTA top 50 and she just got the biggest win of her career over Sloane Stephens. I think Bouchard's win over Stephens is better than her win over Ana Ivanovic not just because Sloane is higher ranked. Also, because Sloane is the top player of Eugenie's generation it shows she can compete with her and even beat her.

Eugenie has something that Alexandra Wozniak the former top Canadian lacked and that's mental toughness. I don't see any fear from Eugenie she goes for her shots and she never gives up and she fights to end. I like that. Wozniak obviously is talented too, but she doesn't seem to have the fire and desire.

So I admit I was wrong about Eugenie the girl is obviously a very gritty fighter and fierce competitor. It seems to me Eugenie definitely has mental toughness she did not give up in this match despite being down in it against Stephens.

It's not about being wrong, it's about using inadequate knowledge and poor observation to make premature conclusions.

There's wrong, then there's this:

...or at least rename it to something like, "I'm a highly emotional and dramatic flip-flopper, e.g. my wild swings in opinion on Genie."

Yeah, but in all fairness he started an entire new thread with "I apologize about Eugenie Bouchard she is a gritty fighter" as the freakin' title. What more can the guy do? It's not his fault people like to bump this one. And she was getting a lot of hype at the time of the original thread even though she hadn't yet won a tournament. What's wrong with changing your opinion based on new information/observation?

It cannot be about results: as of this date, both have one majors final appearance, but Genie has 2 majors semifinals finishes to Radwanska's lone
semi (AO ' 14).

She has better results at the majors than your Radwanska. So by your criteria, Radwanska is "not that good a tennis player yet."

She's not the media darling you claim she is, and she's out there doing her job--getting stronger. I do not see you holding Radwanska to the same standard.

Not true. Radwanska has lost two Slam semis. As well as AO14, she lost at Wimbledon last year, in that epic against Lisicki. As of today, Radwanska's Grand Slam record (0-1-2-7) is still ahead of Bouchard's (0-1-2-0), but of course that could change on Saturday and Bouchard is much younger.

OP never should have "retracted" his post here...he did go a bit too far with some of his comments, but he really wasn't that far off on a lot of what he said.

I could have seen Genie win a slam...but with the ascent of Madison Key and Muguruza. Maybe she has lost her chance.

Was never really a fan, but thought a couple of years ago that she could become something by now. She seems lost.
