Thanks for all of this info!!Here's a short explanation
Yes that's where my username comes from.Euro, African Cup, Copa Libertadores (North and South America), Asian Cup and World Cup are like the Davis Cup of football. It's where players represent their country.
These players also play in certain clubs - those are teams (from a certain part of the world made of players from many different countries) that compete for titles in club's country and if good enough for continental titles as well. Competition rules aren't all the same, but the rules of the actual football game always are.
When it's a knockout stage and there has to be winner, there has to be a penalty shoot-out if it's a tie (or in football terms, a draw) for 90+30 minutes.
He had a match point lolMr. Ivanovic - just a bit outside! Ha ha!
And Zaza he barely touched the ball in the whole match lol**** OFF! This is ridiculous. Someone should punch Pelle and Darmian
If Mario Gomez were at least awful he would've scored that goal. Terrible player.
Germany scores!
(I watched football last weekend for the first time since I was in Japan, and I've forgotten all the rules. )
I have a lot to catch up on! I'm always late to things, but I do love this part of it--learning the rules, learning the people, diving headfirst into the excitement of something that I can't quite appreciate yet.I love that there's people out there who don't know the rules of football.
Chelsea paid Mario Gomez to choke away those chances for Bayern munchen in that CL final.Pelle telling Neuer he was going to Panenka it, proceeds to hit it 2 meters wide. LOL
complete donkey.

I have the same problem. Always late to TV shows and music, as well as to sports. I found my favorite band Soundgarden in 2008, years after they'd parted and before they got back together.I understand. It keeps happening to me too, but in music and TV shows.
Boy you are a smart man.Anyone who ever underestimates Germany in football is a fool. They are the most consistent team in the history of the sport.
Well deserved win. Silly ref's decision not to give the goal in the 1st half, but therefore give Italy a dubious penalty in the 2nd. Penalty shoot out is of course a matter of luck & bottle (90%) and maybe 10% in the hands of the goalies. By the way, this was the 6th time in a row that the Germans win such on big occasions.
But all credit to the Italians. They really are tough to beat. They seem, at times, allmost invisible on the field, but as soon as they get the ball they need only few seconds (and passes) to create havoc in front of your goal.
Looking forward to France (or will it be Iceland?)
No one had to pay a dime. Nature did the job.Chelsea paid Mario Gomez to choke away those chances for Bayern munchen in that CL final.

My head, heart and wallet are with France. Come on.
That was one of the most excruciatingly bad penalty shootouts I've ever seen. Pelle and Schweini in particular.
Wow, France are currently strolling to victory. I thought Iceland would be far more difficult to break down.
Back on track, Germany were uncharacteristically bad on penalties, they were there for the taking but Italy were even worse. Real bad luck for Zaza, brought on specifically in the final minute for the penalty shoot out and I don't think he even kicked the ball until the penalty. For his very first touch of the ball he's expected to score the penalty in a high pressure situation. Talk about pressure.
Relevant again.
If France win tonight and they should they mustn't become over confident about the Germany match. That's the danger.
Is this carnage usual?

I see. Thank you!! I'm still learning all the rules and dynamics out there.Think about it a bit like those times a huge tennis upset happens (say, Rosol v Nadal) and the upsetter goes out meekly in the next match.
Plus, when the big favorite get an early lead like here, the underdog often starts to stress and makes more mistakes which allows the lead to widen.
