Semi-Pro
Worst tournament in history. 2 weeks of friendly matches to see 8 out of 24 teams out.

Euro's even in the 16 Team Era were interesting only starting with the semifinals, till then you would see Portugal 1-0 Czech Republic or Spain destroy France in Donetsk without France even trying a valid shot on goal.

Would like to see semi's like Northern Ireland vs. Ireland and Albania vs. Hungary.

It would be great for the hosts to win but is there any player in the current French team comparable to Zidane? Zidane had it all; power, skill, great 'vision'(tactical awareness) and his brilliance won France the World Cup.

No player in the Euros quite comparable to Zidane perhaps. Pogba is very good though, and he's the odds favorite for player of the tournament I think.

It really is 1998 all over again.

English fans tearing up Marseille again. Wonder if any veterans have done 98, 2016 double??/

No Zizou but Griezmann is a player, really hope he takes over the tournament.

Certainly not as clutch (or lucky?) on the biggest penalty of his life like Zidane was

Del Bosque released De Gea after the goalkeeper was accused of sexual abuse...

Spain is now without their best player.

He is still there, but the whole thing is pretty shady.
I think Man Utd have a bit of a problem with that. There was something a few months back with Martial and a youth player arranging something similar. I remember a few other things in the past 18 months too.

To be fair, it probably happens at most clubs. Strange how it keeps getting out though.

3 English guys dressed up as Fed on route to the Switzerland match today. What has the world come to.

He is holding an inflatable racquet, a mask and a tennis ball...

I went dressed as Fed in the WC! They even showed on international TV, hahahahah. Switzerland vs France, that had an amazing goal from Benzema ruled out because the referee ended the match during the french attack (...)

England have NEVER won their opening game in the EUROs. Wales on the other are now 1/1 on that stat.

I hold you responsible then, probably the inspiration. :D

The Swiss are already ahead inside 5 minutes.

Please spank these frauds.
Elaborate, in detail please. Very respectable performance, no surprises from a team that won in Portugal.

Interesting three games tomorrow, it's gonna be fun. :)

All kicking off in the ground now. Russian fans apparently to blame. A lot of talk about England fans but these Russian ultras are something else.

Hodgson holding England back???

Wales England on Thursday is a monster.

It's about the controversy in qualifying rounds. It could have easily been Denmark playing today instead of them.

Faroe Islands defeated Grecce twice, that doesn't mean they deserve to be here.
Teams who performed far worse than Albania in qualifying are there. My point was they accumulated 11 points in 7 games without the awarded match. Also considering their superiority to Serbia it would have been no surprise to take the 3 in Belgrade without the abandonment. Denmark failed to beat Albania in their 2 matches, they had their chance and did not deliver.

Confused how this makes Albania frauds, slightly fortunate maybe. Had it been another country (not Albania) maybe you would not brand them frauds?

Even with the additional 3 points they were given, Albania were by far the worst group runners-up of all nine. Take away those 3 and they won less than most 3rd placed teams who had to go through playoffs.

Superiority? Serbia defeated Albania away from home. A home win in Belgrade was more likely if you ask me.

I wouldn't brand them frauds if they actually played and won 3-0 or by any other scoreline though. Serbia wouldn't have qualified even if they won that match and I hardly feel sorry for the team. It's made of Matic and 10 pieces of wood. Denmark suffered from that incident a lot more so I am not as pissed as you think considering the ongoing heated rivalry with Albania. If Serbia were in Denmark's place though, I would be raging. :D

Well, at least those youngsters who won the U-20 World Cup will soon get a chance in the senior team, right?

Know some people in Nice, apparently a number of local hooligans came and attacked Northern Ireland and Poland fans.

Russia has a huge hooligan problem, 2018 World Cup... Putin will have to sort that out

Wish Chico was still here, he was entertaining during the World Cup regarding Croatia's exit.

I really don't know. Ever since the end of 2010 WC the senior team has been a catastrophe.

Nevermind that, back to Euros.
Easy group for the next world cup though, well as easy as you hope for. Wales, Austria, Ireland and Serbia.

Pathetic as usual. Woy ****ed it up again, why the heck bring on Wilshere of all people?

Sterling absolutely awful. Kane very poor. Lallana and Dier were great.

Russia are woeful though, and our inability to take advantage of that says it all. I won't be surprised if we don't make it out of the group stage. Shame because we've got a talented side I'd say but there ya go, you knows who's responsible.

Chico sure seems like a unique case, even got banned at MTF. I thought he is Canadian.

Yep, the draw did half of the job for them. Now they have to be really crap and not do the other half themselves.

Lallana great? The guy lost two goals totally free. Can't believe that first opportunity he missed.

Well it looks like it's going according to plan.

Referring to Woy getting sacked that is... ;)

Lol...no, but then again it doesn't really help when you have an uninspiring captain does it. To be fair, I thought Rooney was pretty decent tonight, surprisingly. Was unlucky not to score as well.

The first wasnt an easy chance at all..., (agreed he should have done better though)

Come on now mate, he was very good, ran his socks off, was involved in every opportunities we created.

Oh and the second chance he missed, after rooneys shot, doest matter. He was clearly offside.

Well it looks like it's going according to plan.

Lol.., yeah that would be the silver lining. Still quite disappointing. Ah well..

England actually played pretty well I thought, just too slow and a lack of quality with the final ball and finishing.

I'd prefer Alli in the number 10'ish role that Rooney was in. Dier and Drinkwater holding, but that can't happen.

Better teams are going to punish us easily, but it was nice to see Roy go for the attacking selections.

My mate was telling me about holding hands with Polish people, having the time of their life. This was way earlier on in the day. Kind of jealous that I didn't go, but it is all too mad for me.

haha, saw some Polish fans on twitter trying to sign the Will Grigg song. I will be heading out for the Germany game, although the all day drinking sessions won't be my thing.

Think we will lose all three but hopeful and looking forward to tomorrow!

Was going to say yeah, they were awful. I hear they have alot of injuries, but they're by far and away the worst side in the group after the first round of games.
I don't think they're weaker than Slovakia. They have a good team in the offensive side, but their defenders sucks, specially Akinfeev. He made that great save from Rooney's shot, but the goal was pretty much defendable (he raised his arms like a t-rex, come on).

Awesome. Watching football is a lot better than watching golf live, right? :p

I'm slightly more optimistic, but hopeful is the best way to describe it.

@TheMuzziah England will make it out of the group, the crap format here means one win and a loss from your next 2 means almost certain qualification.

Certainly, although I am sure we will both be back for the Open in 3 years! :D

I voted for Portugal, mostly because I'm Portuguese. I believe they can win it, but I also believe there are better teams. Our team is uneven. We have pretty good midfielders and wingers, but only one striker (and not very good at that). Our defense may go from quite solid to a complete mess (Bruno Alves is a huge liability and Eliseu, Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe on his awful days may also represent a risk). If they remain focused all the time and play at their absolute best (and with a bit of luck), we may have a good change and finally win a big competition (damn you Charisteas!).

But after this (https://twitter.com/Sporting_CP/status/741612522181136384?lang=pt), I wish the best for England as long as they don't defeat Portugal :p. We want him in Alvalade next season, to sing this and "O Mundo Sabe que" with us!

Hello there, fellow countryman. I salute you.
Thank you for this post, although I don't share your optimism.
