It's a Reichstag-fire-style excuse to attack your opponents aka Mexico and China among others.

Don't know what to believe. It may or may not be true. But it is the basis for these tariffs.
Reuters and other media outlets unanimously agree that China is a primary source of fentanyl precursors.
Very odd given that the CCP executes thousands of its citizens for trafficking.
Tell us your position on these executions for non-violent drug offenses. Do you support this?

You have failed to tell us whether you support the CCP executions of thousands of non-violent drug offenders.

As for tariffs, we do not support tariffs and believe that only Congress should have the power to impose tariffs.
  • Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution explicitly grants Congress the power to "lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises" and to "regulate commerce with foreign nations." This includes the authority to impose tariffs.
  1. International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA):
    • President Trump recently invoked IEEPA to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China by declaring a national emergency related to drug trafficking and public health crises.
    • While IEEPA does not explicitly mention tariffs, it allows the president to regulate imports during a declared emergency. This use of IEEPA for tariffs is unprecedented and has raised legal and constitutional questions about whether it oversteps congressional authority.

We kindly refer you to the New York Times recent admission that the former leader has been suffering from severe dementia and has been severely incapacitated since 2020 and the mainstream media knew all about it but worked tirelessly to cover it all up (the mystery is which unelected cabal was actually running the country for four years while this puppet was busy licking his ice cream cones).

It is the biggest scandal in American history and it is the reason why legacy media is dying and Twitter is flourishing.

NYT revenue up 7.5% in the last three months of 2024 from a year earlier. Annual revenue was $2.4 billion up from $2.3 billion in 2023. 2024 operating profit was $454.4 million, up 16.8% from 2023.

Twitter is no longer a public company so it doesn’t have to report its disastrous financial results. However, Fidelity does have to make reports and Fidelity wrote down its investment in Twitter multiple times since the acquisition by your fav Elon so as of fall 2024 Fidelity values its investment in Twitter at 79% less than just before your fav Elon and his merry band of sage investors acquired Twitter. :)

Your fav Elon may find the personal costs worth it because he finds value in controlling a large propaganda machine. GAPP can‘t account for the cost and benefits of such a pernicious device. And innocent readers such as yourself that can not discern fact from BS are it’s (intended) victims.

That your fav Border Czar Kamala gaslit the voters doesn‘t change the fact that The Donald caved on tariffs in record time: Canada agreed to nothing more than it had already been planning

It is best to strictly examine the facts at hand and not speculate. The primary reason for imposing tariffs on Canada was its failure to control drug trafficking. That was the officially stated reason and barring evidence to the contrary you need to trust your President and take him at his word; your President wants to control drug trafficking. If Canada has agreed to more border patrol that is a win for Trump. Even if it was something Canada had already been planning to do it is still a positive and nothing has been lost.

Now whether fentanyl smuggling from Canada is a truly serious issue is another matter.

Fentanyl smuggling from Canada into the U.S. is minimal, with only 43 pounds seized at the northern border in 2024 compared to over 21,000 pounds at the southern border.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pause would name a fentanyl czar, list Mexican cartels as terrorist groups and launch a “Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering."

Why do you trust Trump when on your own evidence he is quite clearly lying about Canada?

Trump got rolled by Panama again. The US wanted to pay for their ships to go through but Panama stood up to the imperialist bully by demanding that they have to go through the canal for free.
What a huge cave by Trump. Of course this is exactly what China wanted.

State repression and state aggression is the name of Trump's game, so he is engaged in sometimes pointless authoritarian posturing both at home and abroad.

You have failed to explain what Trump stands to gain by exaggerating the fentanyl crisis and initiating a tariff war with Canada.

Trump smashes the American working man and woman yet again to the tune of 13 billion:

The new tariffs and the closure of the de minimis loophole will see Americans foot the bill when their orders from sites such as Shein and Temu arrive in the US.

For example, a $US100 order from Temu would attract an import duty of $US20 — and past research indicates that it is lower-income households that would be disproportionately affected, as they have become increasingly reliant on the cheap retailers.

International shipment data, analysed by economists Pablo Faigelbaum and Amit Khandemwal, signalled a correlation between de minimis packages arriving in the US from China and household incomes.

Their findings, published last October, concluded that eliminating the de minimis threshold would "disproportionately hurt lower-income and minority consumers" and reduce aggregate welfare by up to $US13 billion.

The poor and middle class voted for Trump so that they could continue to purchase fossil fuel vehicles...that will actually happen, much to the chagrin of Greenie agitators.

Chinese economy has hit the skids with more coercive laws, a failing planned economy and a squeeze on private business owners. Yet our western Marxists keep promoting the communist way and their hatred towards capitalism, they lie about the climate credentials of China and try to be destructive against western interests.

While woke leftist globalists try to destroy western economies through the great reset, the fall out may have unintended consequences such as the Great Recession in China since the Soviet collapse back in the late 70’s and 80’s.

January marked the 18th month of the past 19 to record global-average surface temperatures above the 1.5C preindustrial level. Under the Paris climate agreement, world leaders said they would try to prevent global temperatures rising by more than 1.5C – but the threshold was based on long-term multidecadal warming and not short-term monthly temperatures.

Climate scientists had expected this exceptional spell to subside after a warming El Niño event peaked in January 2024 and conditions shifted to an opposing, cooling La Niña phase.
But the heat has lingered at record or near-record levels, prompting debate about what other factors could be driving it to the top end of expectations.

Julien Nicolas, a climate scientist at Copernicus, told Agence France-Presse: “This is what makes it a bit of a surprise: you’re not seeing this cooling effect, or temporary brake at least, on the global temperature that we were expecting to see.”

If they are lying about China's climate credentials, hardly anyone is buying it, and no-one i know.
It's worth mentioning that despite it's incredible success, by embracing many aspects of Western capitalist economics and lifting millions out of poverty, per capita income in China is still very low comparatively. It's behind the likes of Mexico and Kazakhstan and they are envious of the living standards of Japan and especially South Korea. It's heft is it's huge population, and while the US has to try and stop people getting in, no-one wants to go to China, so that decline looks unstoppable as it currently stands.

This report is an objective one, not an opinion piece, you are just in denial about the facts it reports.

The environment will be attacked by the EPA itself. This is hardly controversial, by the way, given Trump's statements.

Capitalism has created the wealthiest country in the history of the world which is why the CCP adopted Authoritarian State Capitalism to lift hundreds of millions out of poverty.
Although Marx would be turning in his grave at the CCP Party-State Capitalism practiced in China today.

Communist economic systems have never actually been implemented on a large scale. That is the sad unfortunate truth.

There is one place on Earth where Communist systems have worked on a very small scale.
Our favourite BEV Bart would be very happy in Bibi's car-free kibbutzim.

The kibbutzim were founded on the Marxist maxim, "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs," emphasizing collective ownership of property, communal production, and equal distribution of resources.

But the other four priorities move into areas beyond the traditional mission of the EPA, such as bolstering “American energy dominance”, a pledge to speed up the approvals of new projects such as oil and gas drilling, a focus on ensuring “a great comeback of the auto industry” and a promise to “make the United States the Artificial Intelligence capital of the world”.
