I remember (during th SFs, I think) she was saying how Nadal had drawn his "buddies" Almagro and Ferrer. I believe it was her.

Ferrer = 4th best clay courter in the world.
Almagro = top 8 clay courter in the world.

I fail to see the problem

Almagro's just as big a hitter as anyone in the draw and has given Nadal tougher matches than Berdych has in the last 5 years, stupid thing to say.

Problem is that Almagro was ranked 8'th in this tournament and Del Potro was 9'th. Should have switched the two, because Del Potro is obviously a better player than Almagro. Two big hitters who are 9th and 7th seed in one side, not very fair.
Almagro was seeded 12, not 8.

That the number 12 comes through as his quarter says alot, that it was Almagro says it all. That TIpsy was the other option is not impressing anyone here or in the bizarro world. I think too, you mean doughboy has played better sets than most, but hey so did Isner right.

The fact is no matter how good Almagro or Ferrer are on clay, Nadal is only vulnerable to the big hitters like Isner, Berdych, Delpo, Soderling and Raonic. He didn't have to face any of them in his draw. You could argue that he did have Murray in his draw but then we all know how good Murray is on clay.

i dont understand why people keep saying raonic is a "threat" to nadal. on clay? really?
nadal also absolutely owns berdych. even isner wasn't much of a threat to the top guys this tourney because he crashed out early. delpo i can see. hopefully he gets a shot against nadal at wimbledon or uso

Almagro is a top 4 or 5 clay court player of today. Hes obviously also in the top 15 clay court players of all time as well, with the tough era of today. Almagro has a ton of wins on clay. Hes almost a specialist, but i wouldnt go that far......

Nobody cares what Almagro's rank on clay he, he is not a contender and not even a remote threat to Nadal, which everyone knows. The draw was made to keep Nadal safe till the finals.

The risk is variable depending on the weather. But there is some risk that exists that needs to be controlled for. These big hitters have nothing on Nadal UNLESS the weather became very dry, their big shots suddenly started penetrating the court, and the hopalong kid might not be able to play his bunting defensive game when swung side to side--these big hitters could be rewarded for taking the initiative with a little help from the weather.

The fixed draw... Anyone denying it now is worse than Carillo!!! Think about the light you put yourself in.
How can there be any fixing going on when the French clearly don't even like Rafa. If any fixing was going on ( which it isn't) it would be against Rafa rather than for him. Does not compute at all. Roger Federer is the biggest star out there and biggest Crowd puller , if a tournament were open to fixing they wOuld give Fed an easier draw and Rafa a tougher draw.

No, I noticed her comment, nitwit. The point was even she was in agreement to what has been posted on here long ago. when you are sober would be the time to twist words.
So you despise Carillo, and then use her as an authoritative figure to support your point? Go back to kindergarten, goofball. That doesn't make any sense.

My friend despises Antonin Scalia for positions he has taken on U.S. Constitutional interpretation, but nobody including my friend could reasonably claim that Scalia is not an authority of the highest order. Sorry.

Lets see:

-Raonic, ROTFL!!
-Berdych, hasnt beaten Nadal in 6 years on any surface.
-Del Potro, injured, hasnt beaten Nadal in 3 years, has never beaten him on a natural surface, couldnt even beat a crappy Federer from 2 sets up.

Mary is a man, and an ugly one at that. She was fired from even the pathetic ESPN team for a reason, she is that useless, and wouldnt even have a career if she didnt luck out to be McEnroes double partner one year he won a mixed doubles slam.

Carillo made a bold statement the way she mentioned it, yet no genius on here made a thread about it being wrong??? Her commentator colleagues had nothing objectionable to say. Everyone must be slipping through the French bore fest I guess...

Perhaps French public opinion doesn't have the same pull as the big investors of the sport.

I'm not saying the draw was or was not fixed. But anything is possible.

Yes, I am the one needing kg schooling, you clearly have no sense thinking what I said was using Carillo as authoritative. Lmao comments like that make me question being prolife.

But investors are not stupid. They would be trying to maximize audience viewership. I'm a huge Rafa fan and even I don't think Rafa commands the kind of fan adoration and viewership that Fed still does. Fed in finals = $$$. Who wouldn't want to see Fed win one last slam?

Just doesn't make business sense to me.

J. McEnroe wouldn't pick some homeless girl off the street to go win the French Mixed. Carillo knows tennis. If you can't see that, you don't know tennis.

Aside from that, even casual observers have noticed Rafa's draws are remarkably easier than the other half. Witness the number of threads here to that effect. Is it divine intervention or the Spanish Mafia?

Carillo was just stating the obvious.

If the slam draws are fixed, does that mean the organizers like Nadal more than they like Djokovic/Federer? :???:

Maybe Djokovic/Federer need to be a bit more personable and friendly if they want to gain the respect of tournament organizers. Then they will avoid the LETHAL BERDYCH (what is Rafa's record vs Berdych again?) :D

You being prolife and the tragedy of your parents not discovering contraception in time are different things.

You actually think that even if rafa had faced big hitters he would have had any problems? Nadal was playing his best tennis ever on clay, and when that happens NOBODY defeats rafa on clay...
