Even if Federer reverses the Nadal H2H, there is still the Slam H2H

Thomas ... If you say the sky is blue, he will argue that it's a shade of purple.

Well, the sky was a shade of purple last week. Of course, it was due to reflection off the purple court surface in Miami during the trophy presentation :D

Federer still has a lot of work to do before proving he is better than Nadal.

Not only does he have to reverse the H2H, he has to reverse the Slam H2H. The most efficient way of doing that would be to beat him at Slams (thus counting towards both the Slam H2H and the overall H2H). But, with a deficit of 6-7 (can't remember), and his advancing age, it is unlikely that he has enough time to ever do it.

Also, even if Federer overturns the Slam H2H, Nadal fans can simply think of another type of H2H that Federer is losing, perhaps such as the 'European mid-altitude clay H2H' and point to that as a reason for dominance over him.

So, Nadal fans can rest untroubled.

Another one of these threads.... I guess if you are a Nadal fan your job is to recruit followers that believe your side since your numbers are so small compared to the "non-believers" The facts are:
1. Federer has more grand slams.
2. Federer is more popular.

History will remember that. Keep recruiting....

I almost forgot.... until recently Federer never missed a grand slam. Nadal on the other hand has missed numerous times. Basically he does not play when he has minor injuries since the physical side is so important for success. The H2H will never be even because Nadal will avoid more tournaments in the future like he has in the past.

Fed doesn't need to have Rafa beat in every single conceivable category to be considered as the overall better / greater player.

If it's any consolation, during their best years, Rafa was 67% of the time the superior player between the two of them...when they faced each other, that is.

Good catch. The case for Nadal not showing up at Fed's slams is so loud.

GS H2H:

HC 3-1 Nadal played Fed in 1 out of Fed's 10 HC slams.
Participation rate for Nadal 10%

Grass 1-2 Nadal played Fed in 2 out of Fed's 7 Grass slams.
Participation rate for Nadal 28%

Clay 5-0 Fed played Nadal in 5 out of Nadal's 9 Clay slams.
Participation rate for Fed 55%

Who can take this GS H2H serious when Nadals HC participation rate is ABYSMAL??

No it's not as simple as that. IF Nadal beats Federer, of course he(Fed) cannot win that slam, so Nadal's participation rate will decrease. The only thing is proves that Federer has beat Nadal fewer times on route to winning a grand slam(3) compared to Nadal which is (6 finals+1 semifinal which we won slam).

The truth of the matter is
- In their early years (2005-2008), Nadal wasn't good enough to beat the other players on hard court and reach finals where Fed is waiting. Doesn't mean that Fed would have won surely against Nadal then because of matchup issue where Nadal keep on pounding Fed's defensive backhand.. Fed was however second best in clay, reached lost a lot of clay finals. In grass, Nadal grew stronger and won 1 slam final after 2 loses

- In their mid years (2009-2014), Nadal became stronger in hardcourts and reached lot of hardcourt slam finals. Plus with the emergence of Djokovic means the pair were not No.1 and No.2 anymore. Nadal managed to beat Federer 3 times in this period at HardCort slams (all Australian Open) and you could bet that he would have beaten Federer in US Open as well (2010,2011,2013) by exploiting his backhand when Federer was one match win away from meeting Nadal.

- In the final phase (2017-), something miraculous happened. Fed improved his backhand drastically and turned from liability into attack. With that the entire match-up shifted dramatically. With this backhand Fed could have beaten Rafa in almost all of their previous Hard court matches. But past is past. what he can do is now smack Nadal in current and future matches.

There is also the lack of Olympics Singles Gold
Nadal can also nevr be GOAT.

Since the OSG is SO IMPORTANT, we must not forget that Murray has TWO of them, BACK TO BACK. So cleary Murray is the GOAT not Nadla. Nadal will have to get two consecutively to be in the conversation.

what about the fact, that nadal has never defended non clay court torunaments in his entire career
