He is the best youngster atm

Yeah, he played Djoker pretty tough in Melbourne earlier this year, ultimately losing in 4 sets.

I could see him making a nice run at the US Open.

He is ranked #9 in the world, and now into the semis here, with a pretty good chance to make it to the final.

Enjoying him taking it to Thiem on Amazon Prime replay.
He's got some brains and touch, nice to see.

ESPN screen graphic during the match showed his mediocre slam and M1K record so far. He was well below .500 in both categories but now getting close to there in M1Ks.

This is his first taste of getting a single digit seed in the big events so his path will be a bit easier. This week, that paid off with extra rest and having his expected rematch with unseeded Kyrgios cancelled by Nick’s loss to Edmund.

Dude hasnt had two days off in three weeks and is just out there steamrolling people. Dropped one set in six matches (five against top 30 players).

I wonder how long it will be that his coach Gilles Cervara remains almost anonymous. The guy is just a bit older than fedr, played 14 Futures matches in 5 years (4-10) from 2002-06 before going into coaching. The neighboring PMTA on the Cote d’Azur gets all the hype but that may change soon.

Gilles Cervara ... The neighboring PMTA on the Cote d’Azur gets all the hype but that may change soon.

Given some of DVD's greatest quotes and how Robbie Koenig is spilling the beans in commentary, it seems Gilles is focussed on helping the kids learn how to fight.

He Should atleast reach the QF of the USO
Level wise he's clearly the best of the rest. He'll get the 5th seed and he must hope to draw Thiem. SLamovic and RAFA should be a bridge too far, and Federer just has a game that picks him apart if he's playing well.

Well done Medvedev!
Rest that Bicepidev / Tricepidev now ready for US Open.
Winning speech was fun.
Sees his coach more than his wife... Poor lass!

Hasn’t done much at Bo5 and USO in particular (qualies 2R best 3x). If Don Fabio is ambulatory, Opelka sleeps with the fish!
I fear this kind of match. Fabio is a good but not a great returner, and he's also not a man who takes care of his own serve

Fantastic win on a day he didn't have his A-game. I think he'll give Novak or Stan a good match in the QF.

Not gonna lie, it's a really tall order, but Wawrinka-Federer-Nadal to win his first Slam is an easier path than all three Big-3.
