Extend a Prince Classic Graphite 107??

I’ve been playing with the PCG 107, and i love the controlled feel and massive plow. But I like the angles I can hit with a 28” racquet. I know the PCG is a lot to swing already, but I’m strong and can handle a bit more. Has anyone else out there tried this? Would love to hear feedback. And I know they made a 100 longbody, but I’m interested to know if anyone has done it to the 107

Might want to ask Michael Chang. I have several Chang 28" longbodies in both 95 and 107. If you want to see how a 28" 107" plays I would suggest finding a Michael Chang Ti Longbody OS. Forget the Chang 107 Graphites, go for the MC LB Ti (Titanium) 107.

I’ve considered that for sure. Just don’t know if the feel will be the same. I’ve heard the Ti’a can be tinny. But i could be wrong. Just love the feel of my pcg

@BHold81 , I love hitting with the Ti Changs, either 95 or 107. They do not feel brassy or tinny. The 100% graphites play like mush in the very same sizes. The Ti's play very controlled without feeling like hitting the ball with a wet beach towel.

I’ll give it a shot. I’m sure I can pick one up on the Auction site for a pretty good price. What head size do you prefer in e Ti. I normally don’t like oversized racquets, but ther PCG OS has good control, and it is far more stable and has way more plow than the 100. Also how do you string them?

In the MC Ti I much prefer the 95". I do think if you like the PCG 107 you might not like the MC Ti's, either size, as much as they do not have the plow of a POG. I have around 18 or so Prince OS rackets. If I had to pick the plow through king of that bunch it wold be the Prince Boron.

I appreciate all the advice

You can try sending a 107 to bosworth to have extended an inch, but I think the swingweight will be much higher than the mass produced longbody 100.

I agree that the MC Graphite was soft. But that’s because it wasn’t 100% graphite. ;)

Did you try adding some lead to the hoop of the PCG100?

Hmm. Maybe I should bust out my Borons for a hit! Haven’t played these in over 8 years!

I think an extended POG OS would be pretty sluggish on serves.

@BHold81 , I think I had 11 or 12 PCG 100LBs, all but one I ended up cutting to various sub 28" lengths, eventually giving them all away. I have been hitting extended rackets for some years off and on. Right now I have an infatuation with Babolat Pure Storm 95 LTD+ GT at 27.5". I will not be giving away that racket or its 2 Pure Control 95 Plus siblings. At 27.5" 9pts HL, 11.9oz, RA 62, 95" 18x20 it is everything I have wanted in an extended racket with comfort, control, enough power and so easy to serve with.

Have you tried the Head Radical Tour OS XL candy cane or zebra? These are just beastly. Impressive stability and control. 18/19 pattern.
I haven’t, but I want to. 18/19 is my favorite pattern. I know the can be a little difficult to find.

I have 2 of the zebras and 2 candy cane standard length in pristine condition. PM me if you’re interested. The zebras are L4 and the candy cane is L3 IIRC.

the bumblebee is really nice as well but I don’t know if it was released in XL.

Do not know if you are aware, but Tennis Warehouse has these for sale:

I've extended a couple of racquets using the XTP buttcap. It's more involved than just putting on the buttcap though. The sleeve that fits over the palette is thicker than a regular buttcap and unless you also build up the remainder of the grip, it creates a step-up in size leading to the buttcap that is very noticeable.

28" racquet with an 18X19 pattern? That's the Blade SW104. It's a nice racquet and is what I currently use. Tennis Warehouse doesn't sell it any more but you can still find it out there, and also directly from Wilson, here:

Both the v7 and v6 versions are available. I believe the changes were cosmetic and something related to the shape of the pallet, but the frame itself was structurally unchanged from the previous version.

This is a PCG 107 I turned into a "Natural." 355g at 27.5".

You could also just extend your PCG 107 with the XTP Butcap, works really well.

I have used XTP buttcaps but with varied success. The increase in diameter the butt material causes just forward of the swell can be feel breaker on some rackets. I recently stapled one on a Prince Mono and it feels pretty good. For some reason it didn't feel so good on an Dunlop 2hundred. When I stuck one on Prince Spectrum Comp 110 it felt OK but like swinging a sledgehammer with a 4' handle it was kind of hard to get moving, but once inertia was overcome there is no lack of plow through the ball.

Yes that was my problem too with the XTP, I tried with some succes to use one size smaller butcap and sand down the end of the racquet to match.

I had done that with the XTP cap I put on the Spectrum Comp 110. A few weeks ago I ordered several more XTP caps just to experiment with to see what standard length rackets I have that I might enjoy hitting at 27.5" as well as I do my Babolat Pure Storm LTD+ or the Pure Storm Plus (x2). The trouble is that most of my standard length rackets are already over 12oz and head light. Adding 1/2" and a 17g buttcap to those rackets doesn't exactly enhance the ones I have tried it on. I think the easiest way for the DIY "extender" is to get a light racket one grip size down. Then install both an XTP cap and 1 size up shrink sleeve, where the sleeve just meets the cap. Then with some lead give the racket some balance. I think that kind of setup will add .75oz/21g just in buttcap and sleeve.

Any opinions on the Triple Threat Graphite OS? It is extended but a bit light.
@Ronaldo , Good call on that one. I just happen to have a TT Grande 115 that is 27.5". I forgot all about it being 27.5". Boy is it light at 8.5oz strung. I got it to see if my 62yr old wife of 38 yrs and just beginning to play, but has some basal thumb arthritis might be able to swing it.

@BHold81 , I took my lightest 4-stripe POG OS that happens to be in grip 3 and installed a grip 3 XTP cap on it. It is now 27.5" 12oz/340g and 6pts HL. It is strung with NXT 16g at 58lbs. I thought about restringing it but this racket has been hanging on the wall for more than year and the strings are virtually unplayed. I am going for a hit this afternoon if we can get some court time indoors. I'll swing it against my Pure Storm LTD+ and see how it feels. It might be "magic." I do have a Prince Graphite Pro OS inbound and if it doesn't weigh too much I might put an XTP cap on it as well.

All this 27.5" talk has me eyeballing my pair of Chang Ti 28" OS's along with the hacksaw. But before shortening a Ti Chang I should bring out my 27.375" Chang Graphite OS and see how it plays again. I haven't had a lot of luck swinging a 28" OS Prince.

How did your 27.5" XTP extended POG experiment go?
