I have some eye vision problems (I have to wear glasses). I was wondering what you guys think I should do. I am 14 and like to play without glasses. I don't currently play with glasses on. It's hard for me to. So, do you guys think I should get contacts?

If you can get contacts, get it!!
If u cant use glasses, it will be better them play without eye corrections.

Hummm what are your eye problem? How many degrees do u use?

My prescription for my glasses is 1.00. I can see the ball pretty good in a match but I want to know if I should get contacts. You know maybe clearer vision is better for my game?

im freaked out by contacts, i can't see myself using them, ive been using glasses all this time, so far no problems, i can see the ball in my side just fine, but not clear on the other end, which is important too

myadvise, play witout them for as long as you can, if you can, because your eyes then become dependant on them

Oh ok. So you're saying to not get contacts because my eyes will become dependent on them? Anyway, my biggest fear is that one of the contact lenses might fall out during my match and I will lose them.

I've worn contacts since 1962 without a problem. Always have a backup set in your bag, plus some drops, and you will be fine with contacts.

See an optomotrist or opthomologist and follow his/her advice.

Ok, so then I should get contacts?????????

If I were u, I will use contacts.

U can have a extra pair in your bag, if u lose any contacts in the game u can replace it.

For the game, I think it will give u more accuracy and percption.

If you are a -1.00, you're not horribly blurry...but blurry enough that you'd definitely see an improvement in your tennis if you corrected it (better tracking skills, etc).

You have a few options:

1. Continue NOT weearing any correction--and missing out on being the best player you could be!
2. Wear glasses, but run the risk of being hit with a ball, and possibly having the lens/frame break!
3. Have a pair of sports glasses made at your optometrist office. They arent as dorky looking as they used to be. Many companies like Adidas make really cool looking frames for sports.
4. Get a contact fitting from your optometrist--ask about disposable lenses. This way, you can always have extra on hands. Rarely do people have soft disposable lenses fall out during sporting activities if they are fit properly. Other things like dry eye, etc can contribute to this, but this is true in everyday life anyway.

Only you can decide!

Well, thank you very much. The problem is I can only get contacts in October so I'm gonna have to wait. I went and hit indoors yesterday and I was hitting awesome for only playing 2 hours a week this winter. So, I might get contacts later on.

I never played with my glasses either until I decided that I'd try it one time. I shanked the first 20 balls because to me it became much smaller and wasn't a big fuzzy thing moving through the air anymore. Now I can't play without them. I'm going to get contacts soon, I just hope I can deal with them alright.
