Ezone 98 aqua night

On the other hand, I have long suspected the dampening technologies were doing absolutely nothing.
A good opportunity to test the theory.

FWIW I’ve seen similar examples from most, if not all, of the high volume mfg’s. Unfortunately nature of the beast it seems.

Also FWIW I have one aqua night and one blue 98. The blue one is right on spec. The aqua night is significantly under spec. Had to add weight to the aqua night to get them close.

Two brand new Ezones 98.
Same balance and weight.
Mfers solved a spec problem by not putting the mesh in one of the handles at all. Genius.

The yellow plastic is just a little excess from the molding of the handle - 2 of my 4 Aqua Night 98s have this. My Osaka 100 also has this.

You can break them out with a little pressure if that bothers you. Atleast in those 3 frames I can put in tungsten/lead in the buttcap without worrying of it going into handle. :-D

The specs themselves were fine.

Vdm actually existed in the Ezone xi 98 and 100 years ago. They put it away afterwards and it made its comeback about 5 years ago.
It is a mesh layer in between the two carbon fibre tubes / hairpins that formed the handle. It brings a ever so slightly different feel.

Also to note the Ai and dr had no vdm yet they had the most desirable feel and overall performance. So the material / composition are the major factors. I recently bought the aqua 98 and 100 they are not bad at all.
