Ezone 98 (Primary) with Ezone 100 (backup)?

Thinking of backing up my ezone 98 (2020) with the ezone 100 (2022). Reasons being I have been struggling with power and serves in the late 2nd and 3rd sets from arm fatigue. I recently tried this 98/100 combo and found I was getting easier power with the 100 when tired and it was easier to swing.

I know this sounds like a bad idea to use racquets which are not the exact same but wanting someone to either talk me into it or out of it based on personal experience/thoughts! Thanks.

Do it. Over time you will figure out what works best and naturally commit to one - or you will just keep trying different frames and setups like I have been doing. Either way as long as you are playing well and enjoying it, that is all that matters.

I would stick to the EZ100 - the transition to a similar but different frame would be mentally tough for me more than anything.

If you really needed a variable approach: what if you just used matched EZ100s at 2 tensions? Stiffer frame to start and go down to the lower tension frame (say 3-4 lbs) in the 2nd half.

I would just get two 100's.

There’s nothing wrong with the idea. If it works for you then that’s all that matters. But based on what you’ve described you might be better off with 2 100’s. More easy power in the first set or two might help with the arm fatigue more than switching it up. That said arm fatigue is real and worsens as we age. I’ve modded one of my racquets to be a lighter version just for this reason. The handful of times per year I play more than a couple of sets I like to switch it out to feel like I get a bit more zip through the ball. For me power isn’t the problem its speed through the hitting zone. As my arm tires I feel like I’m hitting everything late so the lighter racquet makes it feel like I have more zip through the ball. YMMV.
