Don't you non-northamericaners have a craving for Corona beer now?

Goes good with Thehorse (delpo) meat and tobasco sauce.

Tomorrow you can add some maple syrup to it will watching reruns of Milos on seinfeld.

Del Potros getting better. At this rate of progress in a few months he'll be beating Verdasco in straight sets.

I think it's pretty clear that Delpo will recover his shotmaking of UsO 2009 pretty soon. Once he goes to his prime he should be able to improve his UsO '09 serve by 15-20% coz his ball toss is low, and with his height (his serve) can easily get more mph. So at his best, he should be better than the UsO '09 Delpo.

I think he'll quickly start looking unbeatable on hardcourts in the near future. It's unlikely that anyone would be able to outhit him from the baseline.

The only way to beat him would be to change pace move him sideways and forward by sharp angle and drop shots etc. Fed and Murray might have more success against him than say Nadal or Djokovic..
It'll be interesting to see how Nadal tackles Delpo

OK... Nadal lost to Del Potro during his worst period in tennis so far (with no abs, knees hurting). Murray has never lost to Del Potro on hard courts even during his short *prime*. Djokovic has handled Del Potro quite easily as well (and has never lost to Del Potro). Federer played his worst final that I have ever seen at the US open 09, and Del Potro won that match.

Possible. He seems to be tired out there today, don't know why. Luckily for him, he got the break back. Let's hope, he cruises from here on.

The Istomin-slayer 2011 Verdasco now a couple of points away from serving for a chance to face great Milos Raonic in the final. Verdasco might be off, but Delpotro is also not that top 100 player after getting cleaned up by ITF.

@Tennisfan3
as a fellow brother of the fan clan

Nadal will do what any self respecting artifically enhanced unstoppable stamina energizer bunny machine will do and try to wear Delpo down, make him run and lengthen each point as much as possible.

Omigod! Verdasco hits a brilliant DTL and then dumps a SITTER in the sidelines.

WTF? That's the prob with Dasco..shot selection..

murray, federer, nadal and djokovic would have all had this game by now.

Give the "the-horse" a break, he's still regaining his form. Nadal took time as well when he came back.
Delpos been regaining his form fairly quickly, but he's had even more time off then Nadal did.

"bolo" is probably referring to Verdasco. Any TOP player would have broken Delpo an hour ago.

Dasco had 0-30 and then cracked a dumb UFE, blowing away a potential 0-40 lead.

Then on bp, Verdasco got ahead in the pt using a brilliant DTL forehand, but then missed a sitter forehand.

Verdasco FINALLY breaks...phew!

Delpo might lose this, but he's looking mighty good. A little bit of match practice and fitness, and he'd beating guys like Verdasco in straights with a breadstick thrown in for good measure..

Watch out for Delpo in the fall hardcourt season (and maybe even at the F.O). Don't expect much in Wimby from the big man though..

Decent performance from Verdasco. He played well within himself to get the win.

I guess he plays differently depending on the level of competition. For example, his game plan will be different for someone in the top 10 than someone ranked close to 500. Anyway I hope he doesn't underestimate Raonic because he needs to play at least couple of levels higher than today to win a set.

Right on - Verdasco will have to find another gear, because this level of play is sufficient to easily beat Del Potro in straight sets, but he will have to compete at a much higher level to have a chance in the final.

I don't think he needs to raise his game several levels, just a little bit. The way I've seen Raonic playing the past few matches, even though Verdasco isn't playing great, i would still put Verdasco as the fair favorite.

Troll alert? Why? Are facts too hard to digest? Verdasco did beat someone who is ranked somewhere around 500's today, didn't he? He did win in straights now, didn't he?

But expecting Verdasco to win the final based on today's performance is premature, which is again a fact.

Well said.

Livestream announcers horrible. They almost ruined the match. How can the so called expert in the second chair say after the match I thought Del Porto would win because of how well he played against Hewitt.

He should say that before the match begins. They talked during the point and always about something else.

Del Porto's intensity didn't seem to be there. No excuse. Verdasco has worked just as hard.

I think Verdasco will find it difficult because the errors he was getting today, will not likely happen from Raonic. Raonic is playing very good tennis so Verdasco, with today's performance, might not be good enough to beat him.

Having said that, I believe Verdasco will raise his level for the final. It should be a cracker in my opinion with two excellent shot makers going against each other.

Look, I am a canadian and I am more realistic. Raonic doesn't have the stamina yet, nor his return game will be sufficient to be a threat to Verdasco in this weeks form. He will be a great player in the future, but not a top 10 yet. Fernando today played like his ranking suggest. World class winners, great serving and he returned pretty well Delpo's big serves.

Well.

I guess the defending champion is playing well enough to defend his title.

Next time, Polito. Best of luck in Memphis and Delray Beach.

Yep. Polito's gotta long way to go, climbing up that ranking ladder, and I'm just glad he's got Franco Davin to keep him on an even keel. Lookin forward to seeing him in Memphis. Didnt know he was gonna play Delray, but that w/b a great promotion tool for the Florida 250 that I really like.

Nando is lookin very confident, but Milos is a bit of an unknown (unlike Del, who was a well-known) quantity, and if the 20-year-old can keep his head, he just might be able to take his first atp final (without having played a semifinal) :D

either way, it s/b a fun ride! :)

Ooooooooohhhhhh YES!

How did Fer play anyone? Any highlights or something? I'm guessing played pretty well.

Got that lovely verdasco going to have a great clay court season, like last year where it all started in San Jose. :)

Its' The god damn outfit which is making him play well!
