A friend of mine's facebook account got hacked apparently. They are now asking for his Id. Anyone else experience this?

Somehow I doubt that it really got hacked. It's probably their latest trick to get more info such as your Id and whatnot. Previously they uses the trick to identify your friends via profile pics (which doesn't just confirm your identity, but also theirs).

This is the same company that promised a lot of privacy when it came to whatsapp.
I'm glad I don't use facebook. Harder to not use whatsapp though...

Other than business reasons, why maintain a Facebook account?
Complete waste of time. Can understand the perks of finding people you lost contact with or for lonely people getting to know others...but that idea only works if it was truly private, which I don't believe it is.

Facebook generated a complete facial recognition database for the US government ....above and beyond. With fbk you share all the people you know or deal with...whatsapp takes it another step further by sharing location on the fly as well as your contacts and their numbers.

Facebook do this to reprimand you for incorrect thoughts.

Just put in subversive words about anything and they tell you your account has been hacked.

For example, Ivermectin.

Wth...really?

What killed fbk for me was when I once saw that it predicted that I knew someone which phone number I did not have, nor had any digital contact with them...and they were right.
I heard of people talking about a certain random topic/product, only for fbk to later display adds to them of the same random topic/product.

On my phone, anything related to fbk (other than whatsapp), I disable with firewalls and permission settings. My firewall even detects that my flashlight and keyboard wants to connect to the internet.
