Fans chant “loser” towards Medvedev. Daniil reacts

Fabresque

Legend

There seems to be some theories in the replies as to what this stems from. Some think it’s due to the growing xenophobia towards Russians. Others think this is down to Kyrgios creating a toxic environment in tennis that has stemmed to the fans. But everyone can agree a player can only take so much.

My personal opinion? It’s a gambler. A degenerate, low life piece of **** who probably put good amounts of cash on Daniil thinking it’s a safe bet (world number 1 and all), only for him to lose it.

I’m usually first to criticize pro’s who react to fans abusing them in team sports, as those same fans pay your salaries, they have full rights to criticize you for playing like ****. You’re paid enough, suck it up.

It’s different in individual sports, though, and Daniil doesn’t owe that moron anything. And he handled it perfectly, stayed calm while confronting him, said some things, and then walked away.

Still, I can't help noticing the irony of this tweet...

"Having respect for another person is an important rule of a human being."

Thus spoke the fan of this man:

Sad scenes indeed. The small cat heckler backed down pretty quickly when Med marched over with intent.

Edit:This is @Kralingen waiting for Nadal when he loses to Kyrgios at US open
lolololol

this is me if he loses

Why does it have to be xenophobic lol athletes get stuff yelled at them all the time no matter the race

1. Xenophobia =/= racism
2. You know exactly why xenophobia is brought up in this particular case.
3. Westbrook is on a team sport. That fan pays his salary. He shouldn’t react. This is why I argue NBA players are softies. Wouldn’t survive two weeks in European soccer without some sort of mental breakdown.

OTOH the fan was a bozo and a major *****. The second he got close he backs up and calls him Westbrook? You’re already in the deep end, I’d just seal the deal and call him Westbrick straight to his face. What’s he gonna do, hit me? He’ll be paying me some compensation, then.

The Westbrook clip is hilarious. I'm sure even Russ saw the humor in it. And the point is that fans clown athletes every single day. Medvedev isn't special. And fans pay his prize money.

In the good old days, a couple of punches would have settled the dispute. These days you can’t even slap a guy who disrespected your wife without being called names by the immoral crowd.
