Fans chant “loser” towards Medvedev. Daniil reacts

I think saying it's fair game to abuse an athlete on a team but not for an athlete in an individual sport is total crap...fans don't pay a team athlete's salary any more or less than fans do of an individual athlete. And money isn't an excuse to abuse someone to begin, what a garbage philosophy to live by.

Especially for a guy like Medvedev. I will never understand how this guy always gets the good-guy treatment, like he's some wholesome kid we have to protect who hasn't hit an umpire's chair like Zverev did, verbally abused umpires, heckled other players and freely admitted it in interviews, scratched up cars of a brand sponsoring the tournament he's playing in, etc. etc.

Sad scenes indeed. The small cat heckler backed down pretty quickly when Med marched over with intent.

Edit:This is @Kralingen waiting for Nadal when he loses to Kyrgios at US open

I’m usually first to criticize pro’s who react to fans abusing them in team sports, as those same fans pay your salaries, they have full rights to criticize you for playing like ****. You’re paid enough, suck it up.
If someone abuses you you have every right to react. Sportstars in team sports don’t owe those losers anything, same as in individual sports. Nobody forces them to pay money to watch team sports, only because the players are paid well, it doesn’t give fans the license the insult them.

Medvedev 'won' 2021 US Open, then suffered losses to Dimitrov, Nole, Zverev, and Nadal at the big tournaments...the biggest being the Australian Open after winning the first two sets.

After becoming #1 in late February, he's suffered losses to Monfils, Hurkacz, Cilic, and Kyrgios at the big tournaments.

Rather than getting his little feelings hurt, Med should accept that he deserves any abuse thrown at him.

I agree he did fluke his Slam win. And granted, he is extremely overrated. But that doesn't entail him to abuse and bullying. Nobody deserves disrespect and abuse. Having said that, he is a sportsman in public eye. He should know that this is an occupational hazard and giving this stuff attention only makes it grow and become worse.

No one 'deserves' abuse unless they provoked it, which wasn't the case here. For sure Med should have been able to take it in stride rather than get angry, though.

Nothing to see here folks. Fans calling out players has been the practice for centuries, if not millennia.

In fact, if Med was a football player and the fan was a hardened Russian hooligan, Med would have 100% let this pass (as he should have in this case, too).

Medvedev has done far worse than this to fellow players, fans, chair umpires, even camera operators.

It looks a little bit ridiculous for him to suddenly be concerned about it now unless he is believing it to be anti-Russian sentiment (?)

The Medvedev of the 2019 North American season would have been clapping the guy and thanking him for the inspiration, but Medvedev has been in a different mental place since 2022 AO.

We are seeing one of the potential ATG HC players shrinking before our eyes. I hope he realises how lucky he is to be playing tennis and gets back on track. Right now he is leaving a lot of money and trophies on the table.

Man, you better shut your **** up, ok?
You think you're a good kid?
Look at me.
He started it.
Heckler doesn't know how to fight
He's a small kid who doesn't know how to fight

Trump values truth and democracy. He is like Djokovic. They are similar in many ways and both honest and principled

I don't think I have ever seen Djokovic insulted as much as this. It must be a new low for those who like to disparage him!

He had Nigel Farage at his house or his brothers house. Farage and Trump are besties. Obviously Novak will like trump and vice versa and there is nothing wrong with that. All great people.

I can only agree about 1 of them.

Still, I can't help noticing the irony of this tweet...

"Having respect for another person is an important rule of a human being."

Thus spoke the fan of this man:

Nothing wrong with a bit of gamesmanship that stays on the court. They’re both respectful of each other off it.

People got used to it in the Djokovic era from 2010-2021. Now there are no boundaries anymore. And of course the player in question is Russian. Tennis fans hate slavic men.

Medvedev should have asked security to remove the people, and the tournament should give security the power to do such. Medvedev should not have to defend himself.

Im sure you have called him Goat before and predict he will win every event. Forgive me if ive mixed u up with another poster. Or are you being satirical?

I think he will every slam he enters and will easily end up with more slams than anybody else. But he'll never be goat.

I think Egg was given a so-called “silent ban” because I heard he may not play the USO. And he skipped both Canada and Cincy.

these younger players are so sensitive no wonder they all fold under pressure..
if that happened to one of the big 3 they’d probly just smirk and keep walking lol
