Fantasy Tennis

The ATP game is easy to make picks, and there is no tennis smarts involved.

If you want to test tennis smarts, there is a better game that lasts all year and you need tennis smarts to make picks.

Its FREE
http://jdland.com/cgi-bin/sm/smcentral.cfm

This is the perfect time to try.

You pick 5 up picks, and 1 ss(short sell, a player that will lose the most points)
Picking Federer as an up pick is a bad pick as he has so many points to defend and can only break even this year at Wimbledon

Some good up picks this week for wimbledon are
1. Philipp Kohlschreiber, lost 1st rd last year, so low Points to defend
2. Ferrer, he lost early last year so low PTD and just won a grass event
3. Ljubicic, lost early last year, and has a good record against Davydenko
4. Stepanek
5. Llodra

ss= gasquet

I'm actually trying this out, seems interesting since I missed out on fantasy tennis anyway. Don't want anyone stealing my amazing lineup here though so will put it after the deadline's up :)

Breaker, the trick is picking players that will gain points depending on last years results.

Do you understand the rules?

Yeah, I understand. All of my picks were out before the fourth round last year and I expect quarters or better. That's the gist at least. Rafa as my short sell haha.

Haha I did have Murray but don't know if he'll get by Gasquet. I just don't expect Rafa to make the finals this year. He might prove me wrong but eh it's my first time just getting used to it :).

On the tennis channel "racquet bracket" I had Gasquet beating Nadal. Stupid? Yes, Rewarding? Doubtful...haha. :)

I think that Murray thread is bogus. Happy got a bit ahead of him/herself.

Anyone have any thoughts on Baghdatis? I don't think he fares too well on grass but I have a feeling. Mind you...my feelings have been known to be, shall we say, a bit (or a lot) off in the past!

Marcos Baghdatis had quarterfinal points to defend, so there is some pressure on him to do well this time around. His first seed he will meet would be Karlovic, and we all that will not be easy.

I agree, but my thinking is that Karlovic will be fatigued from last week. I also tend to not put too much stock in newcomers to Wimbledon as they tend to become overwhelmed and choke. My decision lays between Baghdatis, Karlovic and Nalbandian. Oh decisions, decisions. Karlovic and Nalbandian have both won titles this year and there has not been much consistency from Baggy. On the other hand, Baghdatis does have a more solid record against the other two (on hard but not grass).

Go with your gut. Are you picking players for stockmarket fantasy tennis?
If so also take into account the points a player is defending from last year.

good luck
