Favorite AO match?

Very tough due to time difference. All options I think of will be posted anyways.

In recent times , thiem vs nadal in ao 2020

If your favorite matches are 20 years old ONLY then you love some player not the sport.

How about some matches in last 10 years.

Djokovic-Sinner in AO 2024 was fun. :giggle:
Yes some people do like this when their favorite player was doing this .

Rival of my rival is friend is concept even a child can understand. So I can't give you a lot of credit.

This is strong coming from a Djokovic fan. :-D

Yes. That's correct.

I have literally seen the ao 2005 mentioned here. But that match is 20+ years old.

Where is the statute of limitations ? Or would Federer fans never

Definitely 2017 final for #1. 2012 final for #2. These matches may have something in common but I have really gotten over my hate for Nadal. It’s crazy that Nadal would’ve probably been GOAT if he hadn’t gotten injured and beaten Djokovic in that Djokovic vs Kyrgios Wimbledon. Whew good thing that didn’t happen. Still, no hate towards Nadal. Definitely far more successful than most people……BUT NOT ME!!! Obey me minions!!!

Underrated - Nalbandian Grosjean 2007. Match points saved. One of the last great matches on the old court.
Underrated - Nalbandian Hewitt 2011. The greatest 1R of all time?
Overrated - 2012. Longer than the movie and just as cr*p.

I forgot

09 Nadal vs Verdasco

I wish Verdasco played like that more often, incredible match.
Love your list and this one too.
Still can remember watching Fed/Safin, Roddick/El-An. and Nadal/Verdasco late at night/early in the morning live.

What an amazing match of ball bashing between the 2 Spaniards.
When you see a moment/glimpse of excellence and amazing performance, you can't believe Verdasco didn't have a better career. Was hoping he'd maintain that level, but it was still special.
Also can't believe that slugfest didn't have any effect on Nadal. He was fresh as a Daisy.

2017 AO Final. Just the 5th set, Federer comeback. Fairytale...just how Nadal fans feel about 2022 AO.
Great point.
Glad Fed won and solved the Nadal problem.
But the whole match wasn't their best tennis. 5th set was were most of the magic was.
But the drama and the way it carried the rivalry's story line was key with this match.

i recently watched Nadal-Fiasco cover to cover, while one of the top handful of matches, Federer-Safin blew it so far out of the water in terms of racket skills and overall quality it's not even funny.

You are comparing a run-of-the-mill stronk era match to the goat-deciding match that is also the goat match of all time. To say that Nadal/Verdasco can't keep up isn't so much a knock on them as it would be if you were to say that they weren't on a par with (say) OLDal v OLDkovic from Wimbledon 2018.
