Who would be your favourite player on the tour who maybe used to be better but has sort of lost their way now. That you would like them to possibly make a come back. For me i would like to see Hewitt and Ancic making a good come back and playing well at least in Top 10.

Hewitt's been back for a year and has steadily gotten back into shape, so he's already on his way... I'd really like to see Ancic come back and improve on the rest of his game.

I agree with Aonex - Hewitt is back - at least almost as far back as he can reasonably expect to get back.

Has to be Safin - the one guy with the strokes to go head to head with Fed on faster surfaces. I think next year is make or break - he'll either come back strong next year - or pack it in - which would be a shame given his talent.

Hewitt - It's shocking to see how fragile he is off the ground nowadays. At his best he's still a top 5 player in today's game.

Safin - Injuries have pretty much ruined him, as well as the mental problems. It's sad to see him now trying to get back to the top, but his knees won't let him. His footwork has become so sloppy that he seems to have a 50% chance to miss ANY shot from ANYWHERE. Watch 2004/2005 AO to see how useless his footwork has become. Regardless, when he's playing solid tennis like he was in the fall of 2004, he's a great player to have in the top 10.

Kuerten - He's finished, but who doesn't want him back?

Ferrero - See Hewitt.

Ancic: Ancic is only 20 yrs old ... I have seen Ancic played before - he has great skill and showed a lot of promise. I want to see him come back.
Anyone know what happened to him?

Stepnak is already making a come back - had a strong showing in the US Open series ; or was it the breakup with Hingis that inspired him to play betta?

Hewitt has gained more confidence in his game; just bad luck on the draw.

Gonzo - the success of his Australian Open debut last year got into this head? He just cannot make it pass the thrid round.... one hit wonder.

Safin injury have slowed him down. But I think he needs to get this head straight first before anything else; too much fire in his temper.

Murray may take a couple of more months before he feels more confident with his wrist. Dude's game is slow, he likes to grind his way to a match which I think its taking a toll on his body.

Mariono Puerta - he's off the suspension. I think he's fresh and anxious to get back on the tour next year.

Other: Tiger Tim!!! Where are you?

From the other's listed above, I'd say Safin and Hewitt equally.
Murray should make his comeback if when he regain his confidence.

Ancic suffered from some illness almost half a year??? What kind of illness that took so long for him to recover .

for me it's a tie between safin and mario ancic. i think ancic has a good chance 'cause he's still young and has the gift of time. safin's temper and mental stuff is something that he definitely needs to work on if he's gonna make it back into the top 10.

Some nice answers above!

I like Ancic and Safin.
I really like Guga. Has it really been seven years since that amazing week at the Lisboa Masters Cup!!?? Finishing the year at number 1. The Portuguese crowd chanting Gu-Ga! Gu-Ga! Gu-Ga!

While we're fantasizing, I would not mind seeing Yannick Noah, Ilie Nastase, Patrick Rafter, Boris Becker and Pete Sampras all lined up to challenge Rog.

i want Guga, Murray, Canas, Gasquet, Gonzalez, Safin, and Hewitt to all make a comeback and knock Federer off his throne.

Ancic suffered from mononucleosis, which in some cases can be very debilitating. I have a friend who had a severe case last year (it was caused by the Epstein Barr virus), he was hospitalised for 1 month and needed around 3 months to recover and get back to normal routine.

I also would very much like Ancic to regain his form. I was impressed by his performances at the AO 2007, and this illness has been a terrible setback and pure bad luck for him.

In the case Safin, I've been waiting with bated breath for him to surprise me with some inspiring wins. As aramis pointed out, his footwork has become a liability. If he doesn't have the speed to get himself in position and execute the desired shots, he's bound to consistently lose matches on a lot of unforced errors. Sadly, his opponents are happy to keep the ball in play and wait for him to self-destruct. I hope that with his coach, he finds ways to adjust and optimize his game given his limitations. He's still a great player, and he can have a few good years more with the right motivation and hard work.

FYI Mario is 23, and after his bout of mono he was set to return at this year's US Open but had to withdraw due to shoulder problems (he was going to play Novak, what a match that would have been!).

Last year he was playing so well and finally getting consistent results, I really like watching him and hope he recovers soon.

and this is the reason why you have to be careful about who you exchange bodily fluids with... :p

what's the deal with this poll?

1) Hewitt should not be in it because he is more than back already. What MORE do you expect out of Hewitt????

2) my answer is Srichaphan
