Fed Djoker final would be huge

let’s come back to reality. Fed isn’t making the final. If he did and faced Djoker it would be brutal.
And give credit to the Fed fan base who have all (without exception) stated the same. The Djokovic cultists post here 500 times a day (in an era none in that cult except Hitman ever witnessed), "Baghdatis! Flipper! Weak era crap!" yet they celebrate and cream in their pants over beating a 40 year old who hasn't played in 2 years?

Why wouldn't a 40 year old facing a dominant #1 player be eviscerated in a BO5 final? Check out the 1974 Wimbledon final when a dominant #1 played a 40 year old. Rosewall won a couple of games, it was expected.

You're right, a Djokvoic-Fed Wimbledon final it would be brutal and somehow, in your fandom's world, that equates with Roger Federer being a weak POS loser. And your fan base can't see that if Novak was playing a Wimbledon final in 2030 wouldn't be effortlessly blown out by some random 18 year old?

How about celebrating on your knees a guy with two knee surgeries, 4 kids and not having played for 2 years has made the 4R of a slam? And if he makes the final it would be jaw dropping. But it's all about living vicariously through a stranger and that elevates their own barren lives. Address that... nobody in your group does so and never will.

I don’t think us Djokovic fans care about that. All we hope to see is Djokovic win his 6th Wimbledon and most importantly record equaling 20th slam. I don’t care who he wins it against to be honest.

We are also humble to know it won’t be easy and he could lose. Even when you the favourite no slam is easy. Djokovic has to deal with the pressure just like Rafa had to at RG 2021. We saw that the pressure got to Rafa and now Novak needs to deal with that burden. The favourites don’t always win and all the other players have nothing to lose here when they play him. Instead they can make a name for themselves beating the world no1 and stopping Djoko slam winning run. All the opponents left in the draw are capable players and Novak knows he needs to keep bringing his best to keep them at bay. Eventually the next gen will breakthrough but I just hoping Novak can keep them off the top a bit longer.

But at the same time, it's such a shame that Novak failed to take a set from Murray on grass, isn't it ? 2-0 bud, deal with it :D
That's a pretty slim life raft you're clinging to, lol. But I give you credit for trying, ;)

Can't wait till tomorrow morning for live tennis to watch... and subsequently discuss.

Medvedev is screwed over bro. He will probably need to play 2 consecutive days.
He is last on court #2 without roof. Won't finish in time most likely. Possible rain and bad light as well.
I doubt it rains tomorrow. The forecast isn’t that bad as I checked. Plus at least they starting court 2 matches from 11am so Meddy shouldn’t have to wait too long to start. I feel he will be fine and win this match. I feel he has a shot against Fed in quarters if it happens as well. I make Fed the slight favourite but if Meddy won it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Would be kinda sad for Federer if Djokovic equaled him in his own garden, especially because that's where he himself got the slam record when he reached 15. Him being the guy on the other side of the net if/when it happens would only make things worse.

If Federer makes the final, he's obviously playing at a high level. Do you think people look at Tom Brady and LeBron James as pushovers just because they're in their mid-40s and late-30s, respectively? Do you think the UFC fighters facing Stipe Miocic for the belt were looking at him as some incapable old man just because he's almost 40? Is Ronaldo not a threat anymore because he's 36? Stop using the guy's age as some kind of excuse. Athletes across sports are having much longer careers today, and a 39-year-old Federer is no exception. If he makes the final, he deserves to be there, and he would deserve everything coming his way.

If it happens (not sure if Fed can get there), Djokovic should win, but I will be surprised if it is brutal like RG 2008. This is grass and Djokovic is slightly overrated here. There's no question that he's the best player in the world right now, but he's been a lot stronger than he is now. A peak Djokovic would certainly brutalize this Federer, but this one is like 70-80% of peak Djokovic.

The sheer amount of generalization here is mind boggling. Fandom is not a monolith. There are loonies in all fanbases. Using the extremes to make sweeping generalizations about all fans is absurdly reductive.

I’d put Djoker at around 90% peak. His ground strokes and movement clearly aren’t peak level but his serve and his volleys are. His return has been great at times, other times not so much. Drop shot is close to peak.

I have lots of doubts about the severity of the injury, let's just say that. I think it was more about the pandemic and restrictions. Not traveling with his team etc. he basically said so.

Honestly, if Fed does somehow make it, which would no doubt be after tough 5-setters against the likes of Medevdev, then Zverev/Berrettini, he'll suffer a similar fate to the last 39-year old man who reached the Wimbledon final. People rightly talk about Rosewall reaching the climax at SW19 in 1974 aged 39, but lest we forget, he was annihilated 1-6, 1-6, 4-6 by a rampaging Connors.
Federer is not rosewell with only a slice BH....beating big servers like Med,Zverev/Berettini means he must bring his best and his FH must be on fire. If he makes that far he will put up a fight and may dominate like he did in 2019.

The only reason 2019 W final was competitive was that Djokovic, for whatever reasons, had trouble with the Federer serve. Usually Djokovic doesn't have trouble with it, and when he doesn't, Federer has very little chance. Pretty much what happened in 2015 should be expected.

I rather see an exciting Djokovic-Medvedev first Wimbledon final, if a 4th DF final might be a dud. Can 40 year old put enough speed on his serves to even threaten Djokovic?

Rosewall defeated No.1 Newcombe, and then Smith, both of whom were big servers.

Wonder if Fed really relishes the prospect of making the final only to face Djokovic yet again?

Against anybody else, I think he would go in with some confidence but after the horror finale of 2019 and the likelihood of going down a FOURTH time to his principal Wimbledon rival might just make him do an RG and pull out at that point. He would claim he was saving himself for Tokyo given it's almost certainly his last chance to win an OSG.

Anybody else think that likely?

No chance Federer withdraws from a Wimbledon final. The only way he stops having nightmares over 40-15 is a win over Djokovic there.

Nope. He will go out guns blazing. Pre-2019 WB Finals threads were all about Djokovic blitzing/murdering/wrecking Fed in 3 FAST Sets. No one gave Fed a chance, except hardcore loyalists. All facts showed Djoker killing him out there. Netcord saved Joe Covid.

I don't envisage him actually pulling out of the final itself but maybe the semi-final if he can see that he would inevitably have to face Djokovic in the final. That way it wouldn't look too obvious. There are suggestions he did something similar at RG where he knew if he won his 4th round match he would have to face Djokovic in the next round so he withdrew.

Would he really fancy his chances against Djokovic in another Wimbledon final?

I think he really does. He's looking forward to this match. He knows that he's likely to lose but he wants to try, and it's impossible to know that there will be another chance is he misses this one.

He's got nothing to lose. Honestly if a 40 year old guy with kids is afraid of being bullied for trying like "oh no he kicked my butt" he should grow up. That means nothing in a mature person's life, especially considering how successful Federer has been. Accept the loss and move on, head high.

Yeah this. He’s already been completely owned by Djokovic, including 3-0 in Wimbledon finals and 6-0 at HC slams since 2010. Another loss doesn’t change that fact but a win helps erase the nightmare of 40-15.

Destiny cannot be changed, some people are born perfectly in perfect circumstances to do things in life, that cannot be changed.

Djokovic will end up as the ultimate winner in Tennis - It is inevitable !

That's the endgame, Federer and Nadal will end up behind him and history books will say both of them were inferior.

Had Sampras continued from 2003 till 2010, Federer would still have crossed 15 and Pete would have won nothing, sameway Federer by continuing from 2013 till 2021 has also not been able to change anything. These wimbledon defeats are actually a reminder from destiny that what has to happen will happen.

Novak is the person who will have all the records 20 years later when kids born now in 2021 start to play Tennis by 2040-2041, then Novak will be seen as the record holder and the benchmark ...

Sad ....
