Not entirely sure what RF is wearing against him but I'll try get a few snaps off my tv. Night match but not wearing night shoes or his Blue V9.5's


EDIT : They might even be the Air Court Jordan's we saw earlier in the week.

His people just posted on his Facebook account, they are the Nike Court ZoomVapor AJ3. They look dumb with the Darth Federer outfit.

Wearing all black then white sock and shoes doesn't look too hot.

Pretty ugly looking shoes, IMO. And why would they have a pictograph of a basketball player (Jordan) on a pair of tennis shoes? :confused:

Nike/Jordan, shut up and take my money!!

These look very similar to the Jordans I wore the first time i got back into playing tennis. Can't wait until they come out.
 
Yeah I thought they looked pretty cool and obviously a promotional play by Nike bringing MJ along and getting him and Fed together.

Not sure what Fed actually thinks of the shoes though....he certainly gave a bit of an awkward laugh when asked directly about them during post match interview.

Will be interesting to see whether Nike has any future plans to incorporate the RF brand into the Jordan/Jumpman brand. It was discussed on these threads a few years back what people believed Nike might do with the RF brand post Fed's retirement and whether it would continue in the same way the Jordan brand has since MJ's retirement.
Without knowing Nike's financials I don't think the RF brand is that strong (and profitable) outside the tennis world. As such the collaboration could be geared more towards introducing the Jordan brand to tennis in readiness for Fed's retirement and the subsequent shelving of the RF brand.

Jordan Vapor Tour? Doubt it. There are lots of players who wear the vapor and they look to be pretty popular so I doubt Nike moves that to Jordan.

The Jordan brand carries more unique style of shoe than your big line Nikes.

No I think this shoe is just a collaboration between Jordan and Federer. It was in response to your reaction to the jumpman logo on a tennis shoes

EDIT: Possibly trying to manufacture a bromance again, not sure if it will fail or prosper as of this point

Because the Jordan brand is like the "elite" brand for "elite" athletes. Jordan is like Cadillac and Nike is General Motors. Cadillac being the luxury car brand of GM. You get the point

I never think of Jordan as anything other than as a basketball player. And I don't think tennis should be mixed up with basketball. Two different and separate sports. Would you want a Michael Phelps logo on your tennis shorts?

Er, they're an awesome homage to the classic shoe. It's the same darn shoe Fed usually wears, he's just using an opportunity to honor one of the greatest athletes in modern history. It's really hard to find fault with that.

Jordan is pretty popular, you can google them up and I think most people who buy their shoes are can't even play basketball. It is a fashion statement. I think (as one poster suggested) Nike is trying to target selling the Vapors to consumers outside tennis.

Consumers outside of tennis should want to buy Vapors because they are cool looking (except this one) and are very comfortable and perform well. No need to involve a basketball player, IMO. :)

Nope, as I've said Jordan is the elite brand of Nike.

Check out this site. While it shows mostly basketball players, there are some folks like Derek Jeter (baseball) Andre Ward (boxing) and some football players in the roster. These non-basketball athletes use Jordan shoes or apparel

I don't think its weird to see the jumpman logo in a tennis shoe, I think it is pretty cool although I'm not sure how it will work

IMO, putting a jumpman logo in any shoe will almost guarantee the shoe will become a "fashion statement"

Just make sure they are authentic though LOL

Oh, I understand alright. I understand that I will never buy a tennis shoe with a logo of a guy jumping with a basketball in his hand. Why? Oh, I don't know? Maybe because no one I know does that when they play tennis?
 
If they were available in wide widths, I'd buy them tonight.

While probably just made as an homage to a classic shoe, it could be an attempt by Nike to test the market for tennis shoes for the fashion oriented like the Air Jordan's used to be. Expand sales beyond the tennis playing crowd and do it fairly cheaply with an existing design on a high profile player.

I've never understood why Kuznetzova's sponsor signed tennis player. They might be the first one who embraced basketball into tennis ^____^

Nike can afford to lose a few customers in exchange for thousands of non-tennis consumers who will actually buy the shoes just because they have the jumpman logo in 'em

Its interesting... Kuznetsova is sponsored by Qiaodan. Qiaodan is Chinese for Jordan.

Exactly, Nike have always positioned the RF brand as superior to others when it comes to clothing (in recent years they have largely omitted the RF logo from the retail vapors), this is reflected in the RF shirts being slightly more expensive than the others.
Again I emphasize that the RF brand beyond the tennis world is barely recognizable (and Nike Tennis is hardly Nike's most profitable division)....the same certainly can't be said about the Jumpman logo and brand, it's transcended it's way well beyond just basketball and I wouldn't be surprised if we see it replace the RF brand as Nike's premium line of apparel even for Nike Tennis once Fed retires.

Even if Nike do introduce the Jumpman brand to tennis they may not automatically release a Jumpman Tennis shoe...it could be done strictly for shirts, shorts and accessories.

Also going back to a point I made earlier about Nike largely not using the RF logo on recent edition vapors would likely indicate that they plan to continue the vapor line well after he retires and don't want them exclusively linked to him. Google and you shall find chicks wearing Jordans, the same can't be said for RF Vapors
 
I really don't like them.

Like the heritage shoes he wore towards the latter parts of last season. (AKA World Tour Finals)
