Fed is the first player to win an ATP tour match in 4 different decades

Impressive. I should point out however that Ricardo Alonso Gonzales and Kenneth Robert Rosewall have already won singles matches in four decades.

Another of those silly non-record records that merely reflects the fact that there was no ATP prior to 1973. Winning tour matches in four decades is hardly a Federer innovation; Pancho Gonzalez, for example, won matches in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s.

Pancho was such a bas@$$ he was in Predator also

The tour was a real beast in the 40s huh?

And Vilas won his first match in 1968 (at Buenos Aires) and his last match in 1992 (at Yvetot, France).

Nadal has to win a match in 2030 to match this. I can see him doing it if the Spanish tennis federation can help him out.

don't flaunt your ignorance, that era included greats such as Don Budge, Jack Kramer, Fred Perry,Pancho Gonzalez, Bobby RIggs, Pancho Segura, Bill Talbert, Ted Schroeder, Gardner Mulloy and many others. It was a different style of game then, of course, but no less competitive.

Tilden also won matches in 4 different Decades (1910's, 20's, 30's and 40's)

Federer doing it is an amazing testament to his longevity and his commitment to fitness and the tour as a whole..but its not like he is the first to do it ever. No one has done it on the ATP tour..but that tour hasn't even been around for 50 years...tennis existed before it.

Also....has Karlovic done this? I looked at his Wiki page..because he has been around forever..it says he ended 1998 ranked like 650 but 1999 ranked like 550 or something? I am assuming he won some matches somewhere for his ranking to go up/even have a ranking at all? or did what counted as the challenger tour then not count as an ATP match?

Actually, Federer and Serena would have accomplished this feat this tournament but Serena is not the first "WTA" player since Navratilova did win one singles match at Wimbledon in 2004, so she did it first.

Very impressive, but the fact he's still 2nd favourite to win is what's most amazing.
He is not. Betting odds put Nadal as the second favorite to win the AO:

Anyhow, Medvedev and Tsitsipas are young, fresh and ambitious. Wouldn't be surprised if they perform better than Fedal at the AO. Tsitsipas defeated Federer at the AO 2019 and the ATP finals 2019 and Medvedev was close to defeat Nadal both at the USO 2019 and the ATP finals 2019.

Pancho is so underrated, they had to change the rules so many times because he was so dominate. He was kinda like the Wilt Chamberlin of tennis.
