Fed is the GOAT of arrogance.

It was not enough for Fed to be the undisputed GOAT, he had to take the clay GOAT title away from Nadal, by becoming the first player in history to win titles on both clay surfaces, red and blue, a far greater achievement than a bazillion titles on one clay surface.

Fed's arrogance truly knows no bounds and I must therefore crown him the undisputed GOAT of arrogance.

Yes, therefore serena williams is the female clay GOAT!

How arrogant of Federer to win on such a bad surface. Any clay surface that does not allow Nadal to win is clearly blasphemy.

You call Madrid clay?? It was a lightning fast slippery surface.. Thats not clay. Things will resume back to normal at the french when we got REAL clay again.

You're forgetting the good ol' green clay. The first man in history to win titles on both clay surfaces is probably someone in the late 60s, if not someone earlier. When was har-tru installed on tour?

Yes Madrid is clay, just a different clay than Rome or RG. But who cares what kind of clay Madrid is, the point is that the in prime Nadal and Djokovic should be playing and winning on all surfaces, not just the surfaces that suit their games. Their attitude and lack of performance in this tournament was in bad taste.

+1. Don't forget, it was also very arrogant of Fed to gain the #2 ranking and tie Nadal in terms of Masters wins.

seems like clay is called clay only when it plays slow for you..lolzz
and madrid is clay..just very slippery clay..if you claim yourself a clay court specialist..you need to play even on lightning fast clay as well as long as it is clay..

I am waiting for Fed to win the first ever match where fans are allowed to make all of the noise possible.

Yeah I heard it was slippery but didn't hear it was fast. Is it fact or are you assuming? Thanks.

And don't forget that Hamburg had a different breed of clay court as well...it was much slower than the others. And Monte Carlo has gone to a quicksand clay which causes players to roll ankles. Clay, like hard courts and grass courts varies by venue. It always has and always will. Joker & Nads are just p!ssed because they lost to countrymen they didn't think they should lose to.

It was SO arrogant of Fed not to whine and complain about the courts like Nads and Joker...and then go out and actually win the damn thing! He is such a poor ambassador for the sport...how could anyone want him in their tournament?

This must be a horrifically weak era if a 30 year old dude is ranked #2 in the world? Pathetic! :)

I hope not, that the only natural surface Federer is way better than Nadal!

Against the field or against each other? Against the field yes, goes without saying because Fed has 6 wimbys and Rafa has only 2. Against each other, at this point I'd call it 50-50.

You can't really take against each other as an isolated case. Because playing against each other involves getting through the field to get to each other.

Valid point. Actually to be honest if we are not speaking historically but about the last few years, I think they are equally matched against the field as well if you consider that Rafa has been making it to the finals since 2006 (except 2009 when he didnt play).

On current form and confidence though I'd pick Fed to get through the field more easily than Rafa though.
