Fed vs. Nole or Nadal vs. Nole: Which Two Produce Higher Quality Matches ?

Fed vs.Nole and Nadal vs. Nole have played each other many times on every surfaces. I think the sample size is more sufficient enough to judge which rivalry produce better/higher quality matches. So after all these years, which two players do you believe produce better quality matches ?

Keep in mind it's not about which match you prefer to watch, but the quality display from every repertoire in every area on the tennis court.

It's all about what you prefer.

I would choose Federer's matches always, regardless of his opponent, simply because I adore his game.

It's tough to say. Nadal vs. Federer have had a few truly epic encounters, but by 07-08 it had become pretty one-sided, even off of clay. I think it has more significance in regards to tennis history, but the quality in many matches hasn't been there.

Nadal vs. Novak, on the other hand, has been much more competitive, both from match to match and in terms of periods where on dominates the other. You don't necessarily know what to expect, except one thing: they will be long, physically demanding, and kinda boring.

I prefer the contrasting styles of Fed/Nadal rather than the war of attrition Nadal/Novak matchup

Longest match doesn't equate quality, because time wasting between points is all it takes to reach nearly 6 hours.

Novak and Nadal often get very conservative for large stretches playing each other. Not as badly as Murrovic, but often poor quality. Ocassionally they produce some epic stuff, but not as consistently as Novak/Fed.

Fed/Nadal matches are horrible one sided for the most part and you generally know the outcome every time.. Outside of their 08 Wimbledon (which probably would have gone to Nadal in straight sets if not for the rain delay) its been pretty forgettable. Its Fed getting an early lead and then falling apart mentally.

Not to mention, Fed hasn't even beaten Nadal at a slam since Nadal entered his prime in '08

Fed/Nadal on the other hand have produced more one-sided crappers against each other than most so called "all time great" rivalries in tennis history.

Jordan and the Bulls are 1-5 in the playoff series against the Piston/Celtics combined. Using your logic, these games were low quality.

On topic:

I'm a bit split tbh. In terms of consistency, Federer v Djokovic matches tend to be better, but Nadal v Djokovic matches have higher peaks.

I do think that if Federer were younger, my vote would go to Federer v Djokovic, no question, but then again, it might end up being predictable, like Fedal after 2009.
