FED WEARING BLACK SUMMER 2008 VAPOR 5's!?!?!!!!

Seems a bit strange that he'd be using equipment so far ahead of its availability to the public...though this isn't really the first time that he's used stuff that just isn't quite what you can order...e.g. AO 07 everyone noticed that the sole of his Vapor IV's was actually from the Air Zoom Vapor Speed that he'd been using for the previous two seasons...

Nothing wrong with this - if you remember back in 2002-2003, he was regulary seen wearing black Nike Vapors, along with black shorts and red shirts.....

Maybe he will wear these colors on Sunday finals to match what his buddy Tiger Woods wears on Sundays. For you non-golfers, Tiger's Sunday attire includes a red shirt and black slacks.

Maybe he's getting used to the heat? He's wearing dark colors all over in a really hot and sunny area so that when he wears his all white stuff in the matches that count, he'll be really well adjusted to it and play better.

Probably not, but who knows with Roger?

dude those are just black Vapor IV's. no way those are the V's. you can clearly tell by the design and the placement of the swooshes on the shoe that those are the IV's. if those are the V's ill be very disappointed becuz nike will have pretty much made the same looking shoe.

and no you have further disproved yourself by showing the link to the V's. because the picture of those V's and what federer is wearing in that picture look absolutely nothing alike.

yep. these are vapor IV's. and i will definitely get atleast 2 pairs of the shoes when they come out. they also look leathery lile some basketball shoes. but who cares. they will match my outfits!!!

thanks for the thread. i will be looking foward to these

I don't get why people find this strange. Product testing has to happen somewhere, and pros most as well be the first to try stuff that will probably need to be customised for them anyways....

Man just think what it would be like to have a team of experts design a shoe just for you. I think that would be totally sweet. So those are really the Vapor 5's? Look pretty good from I've seen in those pics.

I have to agree. I get my orthotics designed for me by my sports physio, and they cost a small fortune by are worth every cent. I know my feet sizes are slightly diff too (13 Left, 12.5 Right, not that 12.5 exists), but it would be mind-blowing to have shoes made specifically for you, no doubt the orthotic mouldings could be part of the shoe itself, they could put harder rubber in area that you specifically wear out, etc etc etc.

On this one, TP11, i couldn't agree more with you!

Black. With black socks, just like Federer's wearing in those above pics.

For tennis, it's only white socks with white shoes, like Federer wears for his matches.

i was hinting more towards what your dress shoes look like ;) lol not just the color

Man those are some ugly looking shoes! Almost looks like dress shoes. :-o

I can see him wear an all-black suit with those black shoes before a night match at The Open just like his Gillette commercial with Tiger Woods, to go along with his all-white suit at Wimbledon...

I like the black and black look. Lance Armstrong used to wear at least all-black shoes in the tour, and it looked very 'business-like'. I sorta-accidentally bought black riding shoes (impractical in the aussie heat), but when I look down and see my feet, at least I feel like i'm working hard :)

We agree on something! Alright. :)

i gotta agree with you. those are just black vapor IV's. if you look at the pic in post #9, and the pic of the V's in the link provided, you can tell that the vents in the V's arent there in the pair fed is wearing.

All that custom made or very limited edition stuff is very sad...

If i see a pro play with a shirt that i like, i just want to buy it.

so no black vapor IV for me unless i pay maybe on e b a y + $300...

also the same story with the Federer blue and black shirts...

I know that the "limited edition" -ness of all the stuff Nike makes for Fed stirs up the "hype" around their player and their brand but it really doesn't make that much sense when they don't sell what he wears, because I know for myself if I can't get a pair of the black vapor iv's i'm not going to buy another pair just because I like the black one's so much, so how does this help them? They should just make the items they have on him for the public, this would seem to be a far smarter marketing strategy, it would accomplish both, a limited edition product (maybe only sold on Nike.com or something like that, with smaller numbers than a full blown general release but more like 5,000 pairs not 50) that way the people who wanted them had a reasonable chance, and the buzz of the limited edition-ness would still be there.

That's just my opinion on what they should do in these situations, just like Fed's Wimbledon gear, same thing could have been done because the general release white/gold vapors were no where close to being like his.

Nike does that with every sport. A lot of baseball players are going to regular Nike sport shoes with cleat bottoms. Some are football (american) shoes with baseball cleat soles.

dont look now but i think federer's wearing those same shoes.....RIGHT NOW!

2nd rd night match and i just tuned into live streaming to see him warming up....all black attire....

by the way correct me if i am wrong the black shirt that Fed is wearing in the US open has his personalise crest stitch on the left sleeve (in black stitching). i think i saw it in a close up shot of him in last night's game
