Fedal and their guilt

They both 'resurrected' Novak on the same court, Fed at Wimbledon 2014 and Rafa at Wimbledon 2018.Definitely crucial matches and turning points for Djokovic and who knows how the situation would have been had he lost those matches :D

2014 I don't know, but I really believe that in 2018 the result didn't matter. Just by playing at this level against Nadal on this stage, he got back all the confidence and belief he needed. If he had lost he would have been disappointed for a few days and then he would just feel that he is back for serious business.

And the most important thing for his comeback that year was the surgery, after that he just got better and better, it was just a matter of time. Worst scenario is that he would be back at the top a few months later, maybe AO 2019 at worst

2014 was bigger. When Djokovic became the player in 2011 he mentally held over Nadal then after the net touch in 2013 RG he lost that Final, W Final, USO Final and RG 2014 Final. He even chocked the Wimbledon 2014 final in the 4th and was 6-7 in slam finals. He was mentally struggling and even hired Becker for that reason.
2014 Djokovic was just as good as 2015 Djokovic just didn’t have the mental strength or belief after the tough F loses.
If he loses W 2014 he would be 6-8 in finals and would most likely never have the success he has

Nadal had all the momentum going on that match, while Djokovic was trying to find his form after his bad 2017 year.By any means, Nadal has no excuse for losing :D

2014 was the most important by far for his confidence. Had he lost that...which means zero slams won in 2014 losing 7 finals in last 3 years.

2 most consequential slams of Novak's career by far.
I don't know about that theory... If Novak didn't win those slams, why do you think he wouldn't win next one? Or shouldn't he win previous so he actually failed on comeback?

I mean, he came back, and he would, that tournament or another one...

It seems people think Novak is like 19USO Med, 20USO Sasha, 21RG Stef who just couldn't swallow their losses for a while. Novak was at least making it to the Finals left and right. He just lacked his current cluchness.

You and @beard both underestimate how important confidence is, in sport :D Winning a crucial match, against a big rival, it's what really counts/matters in these situations :)
