I think Novak realizes there is a definite chance for Fed. I read somewhere he skipped Davis Cup to make sure he gets enough rest and the needed practice to ensure he does well to get the YE #1.
if Nole has a few early exits in the indoor season like he did before the US open,
can fed over take #1 again?
I think that would be as good of an achievement as winning a slam.
What do you think?
Fed won one Masters in 2+ years and you are hoping he will win 3.5 more in one month ? How realistic...
When is his wife due? I heard he might skip a Masters 1000 in the Fall.
Novak said 2 months from now.. I am guessing it is early Nov - between Paris and London.
Is there any chance he skips the World Tour Finals? I'm sure he'd skip Paris if it happens around then.
I'm guessing we will see more of his 2013 indoor season than anything else.^Guess we need to hope that Federer's indoor form is red hot this year a la 2010 and 2011.

Who should be desperate? The guy with 5 YE#1s or the guy with 2?
Neither of them should be but you definitely seem desperate for Fed to get his sixth!
Just like you are for Djokovic to get his 3rd.
At least I don't write posts that indicate it.
Yeah, you just think them.
I thought it but you said it!!! Sorry, I've watched White Chicks way too many times haha.
LOL at desperate Fed fans wanting Fed to have undeserved #1 while holding no Slams and only one Masters.
If it was some other player in the same position they would be all over this bashing the player and the ranking system.
So much hypocrisy here.

Fed can finish #1 again, but it is all in Djokovic's hands.
If he does OK (not even very well) untill the end of the season there is nothing Federer can do to overtake him.
As an achievement it will be something very special.
I would say if he does it by winning the WTF plus at least a final/win at the M1000 it would be (for him) with the meaning of a Major.
P.S. I like your username. It reminds me of a good wine that I have had on a couple of occasions.
Not necessarily. Fed could beat him in every final and overtake him (barely).
How much do you dare to dream...
I'm dreamin'.
Somewhere i read Novak's baby is likely due the week of WTF.
Before I heard that the baby is due in winter 2015, now I heard that it's going to be at the end of the year. Nole remains secretive about his baby's expected due date.
At near end 2005, Hewitt and his wife had a new baby and Hewitt decided to skip the WTF so he can be with his family. That is not saying Nole will do the same thing, but you never know.

It would a shame for ATP to have slam-less player at year end #1.
Well, originally, Hewitt didn't play anything after the USO of 2005 due to the surgery he received. It is true that he skipped the WTF due to the birth of his baby though. Before I heard that the baby is due in winter 2015, now I heard that it's going to be at the end of the year. LOL at Fediacki being #1 without holding a slam.
Not going to happen.

So Fed being undeserving slamless YE #1 is OK for greedy Fed fanboys
If it is anyone else in this spot, they would start an uprising and riot here about the same thing.

Meh, I'm a Djokovic fan, too. But the No. 1 rank is irrelevant to me at this point. They've both been No. 1 in their careers. Both have slams. Novak won a slam this year, so whoever has it at the end of the year isn't really important to me.
Frankly, if Novak wanted to keep the No. 1 rank, he should have won the U.S. Open
or should win enough from now on to keep the #1 ranking.
Frankly, it wouldn't be that comfortable a position to see a slamless #1, but if it happens, it happens.
After all federer did have 2 pretty good slam years, 08 and 12 where he was #2 and would've been #1 in those years if instead the top player ( nadal & djokovic respectively ) had slightly weaker years ...
