If you watched the presser after today's finals, they were asking couple of questions about the upcoming generation. Fed was really scathing about the young generation and thinks they ought to do more.

(A) Fed said the top '5-20' are good players , but still not the top and they are exchngeable with top '30-40' ranked players

(B) He praised Rafa and Novak for being such early starters in having huge success as teenagers. He said , he himself though not having had such a marvellous start still started showing results from age 21. He lamented that there is only 1 guy less than 20 in top 100.

(C) About the young generation , without directly referring to Nishi, Raonic, Dmitrov , etc, he said most of these players are at age 23 and have been on the tour for 5 years or so and he said the top guys dont see them as threats.

I thought this interview was revealing when some of us are thinking it is just a major or two before the young guns step up.

Based on what we heard, it may not surprise to see another year or two of Novak, Rafa and Murray.

It is 36/38 majors now since AO 2005 that the top 4 have been winning.

I would like to hear him call Dimitrov a disgrace to his name :)

You can't really fault the younger generation though. Just like you can't fault Tsonga, Soderling, etc. It isn't their fault that there isn't someone more talented rising to take the spotlight off of them. Just like you can't fault other top 10 players who were never meant to be champions.
