Federer and Another Obsecure Record?

By winning the 2007 Australian Open, I wonder has Roger Federer equaled another record: Most consecutive Grand Slams without losing a match in straight sets.

The last time, Federer lost in straight sets in a Grand Slam match was against Gustavo Kuerten in third round of the 2004 French Open.

Thus, he has played 11 consecutive Grand Slams without losing a match in straight sets, matching Sampras' streak from 1993 French Open to 1995 U.S. Open.

Federer is currently on a streak of 14 consecutive tiebreak wins. The record belongs to Sampras who won 16 in a row in 2000-2001. Lendl had won 15 in a row once.

wow any more pointless stats.
Why is it when we come to the sport of tennis someone has beaten some unknown stat no one cares about every other day?

Don't be fatuous. Maybe you didn't notice, but this is a tennis board. People come here to talk about tennis. If you don't like it, go back to myspace.

This one *really* interests me. I was wondering how many tiebreaks Fed had won lately. The guy seems impenetrable in them, and it's not like he has a monster serve. (It's a scary one in terms of precision, no doubt.)

But I like Fed's point of view on tiebreaks. He says that they're all mental. Whoever has a better head in them usually wins.

Andy Roddick has a "monster" serve that Fed breaks with regularity. It's about placement + decent pace and spin, not sheer velocity that makes a true MONSTER serve.
