Federer and Nadal on the opposite halves. AGAIN!

Nole-Fed USO is a damn fine blockbuster in its own right, organizers will have to console themselves.

It's maddening to me that it's not 1 v. 4 and 2 v. 3 (refardless of names) every tourney, with 'numerical' matchups starting in the R of 16, or even the R of 32.

After that, Noletаrds will wonder why they are so despised....

N.B. I don’t dislike Nole, I don’t mind him at all. His fans tho are disgusting, to say the least.
Such a kind, open-hearted perspective on your part. Thanks for sharing it with us.

They'd been in the same half numerous times.

But evidently the organizers have given up on this duel, so they cleverly made sure Novak gets a very tough draw, allowing RF to not have Novak in the semis, the "hopefully" RF beats Rafa in the finale, and the US tennis Establishment is finally happy. Besides, they figure RF might be more effective vs Novak before the finale.

The draw is rigged, zero doubts about it.

Are you dizzy from all of the mental gymnastics required to reach that conclusion?

I think Medvedev and Stan don't even take a set to Djokovic, if they can reach him. Querrey won't trouble him neither, and Fed, I easily see him losing before the semis, and if not, I see him getting crushed by Djokovic. Stan was not so well last weeks, Medvedev I believe is gonna be tired and not able to be a real threat in bo5.

I see Djokovic getting to the final with 0 or 1 set lost. To face an opponent (probably Nadal) who will need upsets to reach the final in the same not too tiring conditions (which are very likely, Verdasco/Cilic/Isner/Thiem are probably not what they were right now, and Kyrgios would have to reach his first GS semi).
My prediction is Novak will have a USO that is very similar as last year's.

My way of thinking rigged draws is : the goal is to have exciting match-ups for TV and a lot to talk about (look at the hype before RG and Wimb semis), so I thought it would be 100% sure Fedal would face in the semis. USO never had this match and it would be a terrible failure for them if it never happens. I don't believe rigged draws are supposed to help a player to win instead of an other, but only to create those matches.

I actually don't believe anymore that the draws are rigged, because of this draw. :-D We couldn't disagree more
Several problems here.

1. Querrey may not be a big threat, but THEY thought he might be. Because USO organizers' chicken brains assumed Querrey of W16 is the same Querrey now.

2. Medvedev showed no signs of exhaustion winning his 3rd finale in 3 weeks, the only one he won btw, AND vs a much fresher Djokovic who had a lead. So why would he be tired after a week of rest? He's 23 to boot.

3. Wawrinka was playing well at M1000s, and we all know he leaves the best for slams, nearly always. That's why he won 3 slams, just one M1000.

4. It doesn't matter ultimately WHY draws are rigged - just that they are. This is inexcusable. Tennis isn't or shouldn't be like boxing. Whoever believes rigging is impossible and/or pointless totally misunderstands human nature and the nature of power.

5. Federer will do very well, might even win the whole thing. He got a bunch of pigeons and qualifiers.
