Federer and Record For Weeks Ranked in the Top 2

I am very surprised that no one has mentioned that with Federer's victory on Sunday, he became the second ranked player and has been ranked in the top two for 377 total weeks, surpassing Sampras' 376 weeks, which is the record since the ATP rankings have been updated every week from the 25th of June 1984. (It is possible that Jimmy Connors and Ivan Lendl spent more time in the top 2.)

Remarkably, it wouldn't surprise me if Nadal passes both Federer and Sampras for most weeks ranked in the top 2 when his career is over. Nadal has been ranked in the top 2 for 332 weeks.

Sampras was ranked in the top 2 at least once during the year for 9 consecutive years (1992-2000), Federer has been ranked in the top 2 at least once during the year for 10 consecutive years (2003-2012). Nadal has been ranked in the top 2 at least once during the year for 8 consecutive years (2005-2012). I believe Federer tied Lendl (1981-1990) for most consecutive years ranked in the top 2 at least once during the year. I believe Connors was never ranked in the top 2 in 1981.

Do you think Nadal can break this record? Hard to imagine him being ranked in the top 2 in 2013, 2014, and 2015. But, if anyone can, it would be the Spanish Bull.

am pretty sure Rafa will break this record as well already back at No.2 for 3 more weeks at least
