As you all know longevity is a major part of being a champion. As is consistency. Serena and Federer have already shown that and stretch it even further with their Aussie Open titles, regardless what they do from here.

In Federer's case he now has won atleast 1 slam for 8 straight years. Truly an amazing feat. Showing both amazing consistency and impressive longevity.

In Serena's case her first slam title was way back in 1999. She now has a slam title in 2010. She has now won slams over 3 different decades even if she were never to win another. Truly amazing! While some could question her consistency it isnt as bad as some would think as she has won atleast one slam 7 out of 9 years now from 2002 to 2010.

Navratilova is the only other women's player to have won majors in 3 different decades(1978-1990)

Thanks. And everyone marvels at Martina's longevity. Which just puts into perspective how amazing it is that Serena has won over that long a period, virtually as long as even Martina now.

Say what you will about Serena but she is a winner, as is Federer of course.

She may be a winner at hitting balls and shopping but she is a looser when it comes to sportsmanship and respresenting the sport. I guess it all depends on what your definition of "winner" is.

Kids are watching her and mimicking her "winning" ways.
