Federer avoiding Djokodal again

Yeh, and wasn't it always Nadal who supposedly avoided Federer off of clay all his career? :-D

Fed cant reach Nadal on anything anymore.

Sure if you say so..

He isn't playing anywhere near the level people should expect him to make SF
Just look at his Forehand, how bad he is timing the ball, so many rallies where he could easily GO DTL but the timing is not there. He didn't tank, he lost to Tsitsipas who played better.

But ofc u have to kick him when he is down.

Tsitsi was solid today, deserved that win.

Rare to see a player's own fanbase give them so much crap but Fred's probably the #1 contender for that.
That's why they are called bandwagoners... supporting Federer when he is winning but cursing him every time he loses. You don't see this with Nadal or Djokovic fans

True - have seen some Nadal fans do this, never seen a Djoko fan do it. Their retirement calls have been somewhat limited to the last couple of years - but then again, for them and their fans they have a precedent (in RF) who shows that it's very possible to be competitive in their 30s. So the expectations are tempered accordingly.

Is it nadals fault that anderson could not reach him and is it nadals fault that fed lost. The blame for this should not be on nadal but on others who could not reach him. Nadal was given the tougher half between him and djoker but fed could not make it. Deal with it.

I don't think Fed cares about the H2H.

But it's funny that "one trick clay pony" who was "going to be nonexistent in his 30s" has gone deep at all the last three Majors, and also further than Federer each time. I love how this guy still keeps proving this place wrong.

Federer is 5 years older...further than Federer is to be expected

At Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open in succession, no it's not.

What happened with the "Nadal has been part of Federer's generation more than his own" stuff now? Shouldn't Nadal be crashing out earlier now as well, or has his longevity at the top become even betterer?

I never quite considered Rafa to be part of feds gen. To me it will always be newballs

Tsitsipas didn't even play better. Fed just wasted all his chances.

now new argument? Fed only improved his poor h2h on hc in his mid 30s thats a fact.
Yes because Nadal lost his speed and he had nothing else to beat Federer with.

And the reason it was poor was because of tons of matches on slow HC in a period when peak Nadal faced an old Federer.

If you don't think age was a factor imagine a 25-year old vs a 30-year old Nadal, even on clay.
