Federer choked hard

For a 19 slam champion, I thought he would be playing loose, but he was nervous throughout the match, may be his tweet to Delpo before the match did him in.

Proof of Fed choke
1. Apart from the free game offered to Delpo at 5-5 in 1st, when Delpo double faulted at 6-6 in 3nd set tiebreak, he could not capitalize and handed him extra minibreak to Delpo giving him the set which was the crucial turn around of the match.
2. He was trading mini breaks in 3rd set like a wta player.
3. What could have 30-40 when delpo was serving for match, he put the ball 5m away.
4. On crucial points like one of the break he netted on an overhead.

All in all Federer handed over delpo the match on a golden plate which is surprising for a champion he is.

I would not be surprised if rafa schools delpo in clean straight sets.

He had one of his most satisfying and epic wins at AO this year. Then he dominated WIM like never before, in the same process he turned the table on the man only man who has truly dominated him, winning 3 from 3. He won 18 consecutive Grand Slam matches and 16 in a row at Masters level. Even if he plays every single tourney from here on till WTF and loses every single match he plays, 2017 would still be a dream season
 
He did choke in the sense of that he played a nervy game from start to finish. It's unclear why. The theory about scars from 2009 could be true. Who knows. Maybe he doesn't know himself. Sometimes people feel more/less confident for no good reason. Small things can affect our mood.

He's human like us.

He's never been the most steady player anyway. Nadal & Djokovic for instance are way more solid. But he's def the most talented player ever and i hope we get to see him for one more season at least. I'm feeling slightly better about the loss today.

Just from the highlights Im watching, I think Fed maybe is a little injured. Not sure. Makes it harder to hit freely.
Not a choke or a tank.
If there is anyone that want Fedal to happen its Fed. He wants that for tennis itself.

He's old man 36 he actually looks like he's 46.
Still had his opportunities couldn't get it done. Nerves injuries doesn't matter.
He's the best and last all court player.am
Sad day for Fed and tennis in general
Where serving 130 and clubbing the ball can get you a slam:D:( boring

I honestly think he did tank after his post match comments. Saying he didn't deserve to be there and Delpo will have a better chance. Is he a little upset? Maybe. But he thinks in his current form Rafa beats him and he loses the much anticipated fedal USO match, goes behind further in h2h and gives rafa his 16th. He thinks delpo will win against Rafa stopping him from a 16th slam. Fed was way too content losing that match.

Maybe, but still I think Anderson may be dangerous coming from the other part of the draw. I am certainly in agreement with your opinion
 
Yep, winning 2 Grand Slams and IW and Miami back to back is a major choke.

Seriously, the worst choke job ever is about a million more times more satisfying than any of these pointless conspiracy threads that pop up after EVERY Fed or Nadal loss.

I will bet you anything if Fed had lighter racket with lighter SW, he would have made that half volley and won the 3rd set tiebreaker...
 
Fed has had an amazing year. He was never going to win everything just like Rafa and Djoker didn't win everything in years that they were in top form.

Anderson is dangerous but I don't expect him to beat Nadal in the final if Nadal and Anderson face off. Being his first slam final nerves will get him broken early and Rafa plays much better with an early break.
