Djokovic beat Federer in 18 of the 26 most important matches they played.

4-1 slam finals
7-4 slam semis
2-0 yec finals
5-3 masters finals

Did Federer have a form disadvantage in these matches? Let's see how many sets they had dropped in the tournament:

Slam finals: Federer 7, Djokovic 13

2007 UO - Federer 2, Djokovic 3
2014 WI - Federer 1, Djokovic 4
2015 WI - Federer 1, Djokovic 2
2015 UO - Federer 0, Djokovic 2
2019 WI - Federer 3, Djokovic 2

Slam semis: Federer 24, Djokovic 19

2008 AO - Federer 2, Djokovic 0
2008 UO - Federer 2, Djokovic 4
2009 UO - Federer 2, Djokovic 2
2010 UO - Federer 0, Djokovic 2
2011 AO - Federer 3, Djokovic 1
2011 RG - Federer 0, Djokovic 1
2011 UO - Federer 1, Djokovic 1
2012 RG - Federer 5, Djokovic 4
2012 WI - Federer 3, Djokovic 1
2016 AO - Federer 1, Djokovic 2
2020 AO - Federer 5, Djokovic 1

YEC finals: Federer 3, Djokovic 4

2012 YEC - Federer 2, Djokovic 2
2015 YEC - Federer 1, Djokovic 2

Masters finals: Federer 2, Djokovic 12

2007 Montreal - Federer 0, Djokovic 0
2009 Cincinnati - Federer 1, Djokovic 0
2012 Cincinnati - Federer 0, Djokovic 0
2014 Indian Wells - Federer 0, Djokovic 3
2015 Indian Wells - Federer 0, Djokovic 0
2015 Rome - Federer 0, Djokovic 3
2015 Cincinnati - Federer 0, Djokovic 2
2018 Cincinnati - Federer 1, Djokovic 4

Total sets dropped before their 26 most important matches: Federer 36, Djokovic 48

I don't think Federer had a form disadvantage if he dropped 12 sets less than Djokovic during the tournament.

I never posted how many sets they dropped before their masters and yec final meetings.
OH IT'S DIFFERENT.

I already made a long post about the oddity of lauding worse form and the obfuscation by total values, so I will just watch from the stands this time. COVID-19 and all that.

Djokovic leads Federer 11-4 in big tournament finals despite losing 2.5 times more sets (29 to 12) before the final o_O

I had the strangest dream last night. I felt somewhere between awake and dreaming, living and dead. I sensed a deep sense of dread, horror and impending doom I couldn't shake. I did not calm down until I started reurgitating random statistics nobody cares about.

I called my psychiatrist this morning to discuss this. He said I was Lewcid dreaming

Fed fans are really useless at this forum...

Have you heard that if you don't have anything smart to tell, its better not to tell anything at all? You sound desperate and angry, not that I mind it...

About subject... This stat shows again that Fed was in good/great form most times he meets Djokovic...

Before 2015 US Open:

"He's playing some of the best tennis of his life," Djokovic said on Saturday during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. "Many people did talk about his career coming to an end after that season [2013] that was below his standard, but he came back stronger."

So what? Ferrer didn't drop even 1 set before RG 2013 final, Nadal on the other hand dropped 4. Yet for some reason I don't remember anybody who thought Ferrer was the better player in the tournament.

Did anyone say Ferrer was old?

Anyway impressive from Federer in Cincinnati 2012 to bagel Djokovic who had straight setted anyone till the final. That must be something rare.

Indeed. Federer was the better tennis player when they met which means that Djokovic is the better tennis player.

Or something.

Yes, Federer was in better form (his form), than Novak form was (his form) when they met (mostly)... But Novaks not that good for was enough...

So Roger's level with respect to his own spectrum of level was at a higher absolute playing level leading up to the matches than Novak's with respect to his, indicating that he was a better tennis player. How high your peak is or low your floor is and how your playing level fell within that bandwidth is a non sequitur in addressing the farcical notion of inflating some perceived gulf by suggesting a player is a better player than the better player they beat because they were better.

No one cares about Lew’s stats so much that his threads rarely get less than 50 replies.

Would this not lineup perfectly with those stats you're always posting of who faced the higher ranked opponents?

So both guys at peak form (fed in even better form) Djokovic won 18/26 of those matches o_O

What does this tell us?

Rick isn't even a Fed fan lol.

This thread is not about popularity contests, it's about actual tennis matches. You know, the sport where you have to put the ball on the other side of the net..
The question is who is the better tennis player. Overwhelmingly in favor of Federer. Not like cherry picked nonsense of yours that also ignores actual match play along with age.

Not gonna lie, Djokovic was really awful in the first set. Play picked up a bit in the second, but the first was completely one-sided. Dropping sets before the final isn't always how you determine the level of play in the final. What tends to do the trick is actually analyzing the match itself.

LOL why are you talking about that poll in my thread?

Dropped sets before mean little for the actual match, where the match-up is key. Hewitt dropped no sets before the USO 2004 final, how did that pan out...
