Maybe having weak era mug Ljubicic's presence will make Fed think back to the glory days and help him conquer this weak era.
Made me chuckle.

Nice to have some new pro-Fed forces around here too. Keep doing what you're doing. :)

Which Fed fans actually like this change?
I love Edberg as a player, so it sucks to see him go, but maybe Fed's game can imprive with some Ljubrication.

The current state of affairs isn't really doing it for me (Fed losing finals everywhere), so I think he should either pull out every trick in the box or go and open a bank or a chocolate factory.

We'll see in 2016.

''After 2 very successful years, I would like to thank Stefan Edberg, my childhood idol, for agreeing to join my team. It was a dream come true. Although it was supposed to only be for 2014, Stefan was great and agreed to extend the partnership through this year which I really appreciated. He taught me so much and his influence on my game will remain. He will always be a part of my team. Severin Luthi, who I have been working with since 2008, will continue to be my main coach and he will be joined by Ivan Ljubicic. Both Daniel Troxler, my physiotherapist and Pierre Paganini, my longtime fitness trainer, will remain part of my technical team.''

Official announcement on his facebook and twitter page.

Edberg has done a very good job. All the best but sad news at the same time.

What happens to Federer's net game on which he has been so reluctant against top players, or on the 2nd week of slams ???
I would be mostly curious about that regarding this staff changes....

From where I've been sitting, I've generally got the feeling that when Federer faces anyone besides Djokovic, he relies less on that bit of string in the middle of the court and more on being an entirely different class of tennis player.

WOO-HOO!!! I've been calling for this since the end of 2014.

"He made back-to-back Wimbledon finals"..."he made the US Open final". Big wow! Federer didn't hire Edberg to help him make it to slam finals, but to help him win slam titles, and it simply wasn't happening. All that happened were blown opportunities: the 5th set at 2014 Wimbledon (please, spare me the "Nole simply upped his game" response. Been there, argued that. No one's opinion is going to change): the 2014 US Open semis; the failure to convert break point after break point in the 2015 US Open final. Then there's the 4th set loss to Gulbis at 2014 Roland Garros (the first time in 10 years Federer didn't make it to at least the FO QFs) and the 3rd set loss to Seppi at the 2015 Australian Open (where Federer had made it to at least the semis in 11 consecutive years). And don't even get me started on 2015 Wimbledon, where Roger played like gangbusters in the semis, but like a pussycat in the final.

I think to have any possibility of winning another slam, Federer needed a change, and I'm now much more optimistic about 2016! This is great news!!

Pro-Fed force? Sounds terrible. What about pro-objectivity posters?

Really? As if there aren't enough of these spamming Federer fan girls.

Keep calm and enjoy Djokovic winning CYGS in 2016.

Provides balance.
Neutral posters don't neutralise anything.

He's been using net game a lot for lower ranked players until it hits a screeching halt in the 2nd week of slams against top players....

Wow, so he swapped a 6 time Grand Slam champion for a guy whose biggest title was at Indian Wells? o_O

Who initiated that one, I wonder?

Best way to wipe them off the drawsheet without expending too much energy.

So Becker's settled the score against edberg.

It's 4~0 and Becker wins.

That's about the only thing that matters.

I don't think Lub is going to be better than edberg.

Edberg released a statement to ATPWorldTour.com, saying: “Roger and I had a wonderful two years together. When he originally approached me at the end of 2013, I committed to work with him for only a year. It became very clear from the start that this was going to be a special partnership, working with the greatest ambassador tennis has ever seen. It was exciting for me to be back out on tour and to see that the sport has made so much progress.

The quality of tennis today is stronger than it has ever been. After an amazing 2014, I decided to continue on for another year, but with a clear understanding that it would be my last year given the time commitment. I believe Roger still has a lot left to give to the sport of tennis and is capable of winning the big events. Roger and I will remain close friends and I will always feel part of the Federer team. I hope to try and come watch Roger play some tournaments in 2016.”

So, 2015 >>>>>>> 2006 (confirmed).

Seems like it was Edberg's decision from the start, and he enjoyed it enough to keep it up one year longer than originally planned, but ultimately he had other things in his life he wanted to do. Or not do. Maybe he just wants peace and quiet now. :)

Not sure about this new Ljubicic direction, but I think Lüthi has been the stalwart all along, anyway. If he were leaving Fed, I'd be more worried.

Really though is Federer not playing big points better in slam finals relateable to Edberg somehow?

3 consecutive grand slam final losses to Djokovic, beating everyone else on the tour and losing to the same player in finals can have a mental effect. This was again seen in the WTF, there is only so much any coach can do for Federer at this stage, he may get the 18th slam or he may not..at the end of the WTF against Novak he looked frustrated and very down and depressed. Not just him but also his wife, Fed has had an amazing career and if he does not get number 18 then so be it. That's the way sport goes sometimes. He needs to let it go.

I don't think it's so much that Edberg is at fault for him playing the big points badly, it's that another coach isn't present instead who makes him play them well (e.g. Becker for Djokovic).

Good decision by Federer. I'd say Lubicic is an ok choice, considering there are TW GOATs with 5000+ poasts available. Obviously he can't afford to have us on his team, so he went for Lujbe.
